Does the preference for Matrix over OpenFire XMPP have anything to do with the PL? I know you're smart @parrott , but I didn't know you were fluent in C# as well as Java.

I'm not actually fluent in C#. I would prefer it work well enough that I don't have to crack open the codebase.
