I wouldn't be surprised if Elon taps that info when sourcing his battery suppliers, because a lot of them lie about the performance of their batteries, or just straight up haven't tested them thoroughly before going to market
@Fitzydog there's a black dude who also built his own Model S out of other scrapped Teslas, and had to fight Tesla pretty hard to get the car to work. There was a documentary about it that I watched somewhere.
