When yokels get guns and go into combat without experience in either tactics or weapon manipulation they will most like get themselves killed pretty quickly. In this video 3 ISIS fighter decide to attack an unknown number of enemy combatants hiding in a shit shack in the middle of nowhere. The ISIS fighters close in on the mud shack on the back of a technical while being supported by a yokel armed with a PKM. The guy has no idea what he is doing and shoots without aiming in a horrible stance.
If they would have had some form of training they would have used their initial momentum and violence of action to supress and/or directly eliminate the guys in the shack while the other 2 fighters engage and close in from the flanks. A trained fighter on the PKM would have killed the defenders pretty quickly as the 7.62x54r packs quite the punch and would have turned the shack into concealment rather than cover. But shooting anywhere but on the shack, the attacking element is quickly subject to returning fire and receive some close shots as you can see some of the glass on the technical crumble.
Instead of leaving the machine gun behind on the technical to support a proper advance they pile up and just Rambo <:rambo:626456459835605014> it without concealment or cover. His friends just constantly blind fire without shouldering their rifle and do not move properly. One of the 3 fighters just sits down in the open while the other idiot just turns around and moves back halfway to the shack.
Of course the camera man gets hit and is switched off in an instance. His friends most likely died that day as well, giving the performance and the position of his friends. This is the reality of combat in the middle east. A bunch of idiots with guns.

You can not retreat in such a situation, the technical was most likely out of order after soaking up the fire from the huts. Your only option is to execute your poor plan of attack and assault the position. It has nothing to do with panic, these are just untrained idiots.
Once you cross the line and you advance on the open field in less than 150 meters distance to the enemy you have to commit. There is no going back, win or die, easy as that.
