@Cammel German rates of innovations per a capita are still super high. Though, German has no geographical disposition to high IQ like the regions I mentioned other than latitude. The reason why Spain is like that IQ wise is that it’s different geographically.

Mountainous regions like what the Iberians/Catalonians mainly and Northern Italians give them a convergent evolution in Nordic peoples in many ways, including IQ, and surpassing them in many ways.

Most of the government held the Castile land around Madrid. Catalonia may have been the worst of the fighting between the government forces, nationalist, communist, and anarchists and kept up the entire civil war. Even civilians were killing their neighbors.

Catalonia was extremely important because it was generating about 20% of Spain produce and was one of the regions that industrialized.
