it implies that the findings of correlation between the two traits are circumstantial

2019-12-04 03:10:39 UTC

rather than profound

Sorry, got distracted. Looking at how Aryan the Spanish royal family is.

Most of the studies I looked at so far say there is no correlation between the personality trait and IQ. Woodley and Dutton claim that the introverted and IQ relationship is weakly negative, like less than .1.

I give in for now. @Aqua @Nerthulas I will try to find that clip and see if they cite a study. I swear, I felt like there was more data supporting my claim at some point.

@Nerthulas I think I found a contradiction of anti-moral realism

2019-12-04 14:02:57 UTC

I think I found a contradiction in nonmoral realism.

2019-12-04 14:03:10 UTC

How would you define moral realism?

2019-12-04 14:03:29 UTC

Sorry to butt in but i wrote about that topic on Japanese religion

2019-12-04 14:03:46 UTC

2019-12-04 14:03:54 UTC

or are you interested even

2019-12-04 14:04:02 UTC

I’m interested.

2019-12-04 14:04:32 UTC

Japan has been historically Old Shinto until one of their emperors converted to buddhism. The emperor then made Shinto illegal, turning their temples into Buddhist temples but japs didnt really respect that 100%. So they settled on a mix. But Buddhism was supreme in theory. Proper old shinto died.

There was a period where Japs converted to Catholicism enmass but the Emperor just started Sakoku (closing country) so all "western" shit was made illegal. Speaking foreign tongues, dressing non japanese, trading or immigration of foreigners, converting to foreign religions. So the Catholics were executed or force converted. Influence remained. See Kirishitan (Christian) revolts.

2019-12-04 14:05:01 UTC

After the Meiji restoration, which turned japan into a proper real Empire, Meiji approved the return of Shinto shrines and made it fully legal. Sakoku was abolished and revamped shit into Western. E.g. Samurai, nobles were turned into normal citizens, proto parliament and even katana were banned. Samurai then rebelled with the express purpose of dying honorably. Meiji gave firearms and western tactics to his army while Samurai fought old school. Saddest war ever. Represented the end of an Era. Batoutai is a song about that (i sing along in my car). See Satsuma rebellion.

Many converted to New Shinto (nationalism was Western too) which had lots and lots of Buddhist influence, but local Kami returned. Basically involves going to a Temple and pray, buy amulets or rituals. Some times of the year, festivals, parties and dances. Dressing old school is common there.
Kami are like Saints, kinda. Usually normal people that through a proper holy life were given by the Supreme God some simple powers and a place in Heaven, sometimes called parallel world. Those simple powers allowed them to help in simple specific tasks. A Village Kami could for example make crops grow a little better in his town, *as long as he is remembered and honored*. Festivals and prayer gave them power to help.
So they are not like Western gods **at all**. Their power is not theirs. Saints? spirits? No proper translation. Are they *really* polytheist, then?

2019-12-04 14:05:04 UTC

Afterwards, they lost the WW2 and American protestant influence got powerful. Christian aspects got involved and worship of the Supreme God became standard for a significant part of the population. Few go to mass, but everyone prays to Kami-sama (means both/either shinto supreme god and the christian god) before eating, when in trouble, when thanking and for wishes.
People still go to shrines of Kami tho.

See? Japs are confused in religion. Any poll with Japs on religion never really work cause they dont really know what to answer. They would say many at once or none in specific, except the hardcore Christians, Buddhists and New Shintoists; which are maybe 20-30% of japs together being generous.
"A japanese is baptized as Shinto, married as Christian and buried as Buddhist."

2019-12-04 14:07:08 UTC

Do they still worship Kami? I thought they were secular.

2019-12-04 14:07:19 UTC

Not really secular

2019-12-04 14:07:40 UTC

Temples fill up before important exams of school and stuff like that

2019-12-04 14:08:17 UTC

in Christmas (or was it another holiday?) it is common to hang amulets on the tree

2019-12-04 14:08:23 UTC

So, they worship a monotheistic god it seems?

2019-12-04 14:08:45 UTC

Not really you see. Kami are considered Gods by some

2019-12-04 14:09:31 UTC

No real translation.
