surely you can see that the circle at that mexican hat potential
represents where the higgs is
from there you get an angle
Fuguer you need to do an episode with Papa
About big brain physics
yeah i get how the mexican hat works, it's just not super intuitive. that's all lol
I am really better at writing than speaking, sometimes i feel like im trying to squeeze too much thought through a tiny hole to talk
especially about complex stuff like this
the tiny hole is my brain hole. it's tough to fit things in there.
so back to that graph
u = up quark, d = down quark. e = electron, v = neutrino
W+/-, and Z are the weak bosons
y = photon
yeah and r/l is spin right?
it is the spin really yes
and what we see is fascinating
left and right handed spinning versions of the particles dont behave the same
i.e. e(r) sits right on the 0 of the x-axis
if a particle has a line over it, thats the antimatter version of the particle
so theres 4 different electrons.
i with you so far.
left handed and right handed electron
and left handed and right handed positron
notice how the DISTANCE between every particle
is represented by a force carrier vector
i.e. if you take a down quark and add W to it, you get an up quark
ok i'm starting to get a bit lost now. lol
oh yeah i get you
left and right handed particles are connected by higgs interactions
higgs is the center line
oh that's pretty cool
yes this is fantastic image
so, when a left handed down quark interacts with higgs field, it becomes right handed down quark
and etc for all the other particles
so this BREAKS a symmetry
