Everytime I try to debate people IRL they eventually stop associating with me because it isn't fun and they call me cynical.

my half brother is like his father, kind of retarded grug jock brain, he was talking about nuclear fusion one day and I corrected him on a few things rather polietely. and he got a little upset, i think he thinks since he lives at the gym everything he says should be taken into consideration or stupid shit like that.

What I really want to know is how you can debate anyone on anything without letting them drop back down into meaningless conversation.

Unless your party was actually dedicated to debate, most people will want to move on from deep topics.
