Hopefully without sounding too romantic or too xenophobic, I think that what began and lasted for some time in Australia and Canada represented not only the greatest and noblest manifestation of imperialism and expansionism but of all varieties of human organisation. Only here have any people so successfully secured a homogeneous land for themselves, an ethical ideal on it's own, but they did so without any considerable infringements on the sovereignty of other peoples and managed to create a condition of cooperation with the other populations which may have coexisted with them there.
The populations here were, for centuries, largely agrarian, one of the most honourable lifestyles people may live and produced some the world's healthiest, most independent and sound-minded people. Deprived of any great significance in global geopolitics they enjoyed instead all the benefits of this lifestyle in exchange. The populations in these lands enjoyed greater periods of undisturbed peace and freedoms than could be found anywhere else in the world and, as reflected in the legislative traditions, of their governments, prioritised the preservation of this type of living for their people over any commercial gains or territorial expansions while giving keen care to the environments of the countries they inherited.
It's a shame it wasn't imitated elsewhere and by other nations and it's a shame that no such conditions of life will ever be found for any people ever again.
