But I wouldn't consult him on other matters
He's right-wing but only a moderate right-wing
I just know lolbertarians love JP
I'm not sure what he thinks of LGBT
But I think he tends to fall into the general conservative crowd, which can attract lolbertarians too
Ironically, Sargon of Akkad, who is Classical Liberal tends to push people to far-right
JP was actually the fish hook that I took that led me to orthodoxy
I think he's becoming more right-wing though over time
and now orthodoxy is my go-to reference
He does like EO
It was his stuff on symbolism and stories from a evolutionary psychology perspective that got me good
Does he?
But he can't seem to get over the unfortunate modernist position
I think that he wants to believe
but he's too attached to modernism
He does want to believe
But he struggles w/ miracles
He actually *knows* that miracles and weird shit happen
but doesn't want to admit he thinks they happen
he's gestured towards the possibility that they do
Science is safe
He's good at science
and knows how it works
enough to see its shortcomings
Yeah, he is, but stuff like the resurrection are hard for him to grapple
That's pretty essential
implying the resurrection is easy for anyone to grapple with
If you don't believe the resurrection, then we need to become (((J3W5))) and restore the temple
I'm not saying I don't believe in the resurrection
I'm saying that it's not something that's trivial to understand
and he's trying to understand it
Oh, it's certainly impossible to grasp entirely
I think he approaches from modernism though and that's a stumbling block
I think a large part of that may be that he wants to be intelligible to the major audience of who's listening to him
because if he actually went full draditionalisd :DDD then he would be incomprehensible
to the majority
and he is actually appealing to the majority with what he's saying now and laying hooks to explore the more numinous and inexplicable parts of the faith
Yeah, but that has its downsides
early on he described himself as a radical traditionalist
