The extension of the tentacle in the unclean one becomes thicker in the added part. That shouldn't happen.

2019-12-06 23:04:59 UTC

indeed, i'm going to cut it into shape after it's dried

2019-12-06 23:05:18 UTC

this is my first sculpting job so it can't be perfect

2019-12-06 23:05:45 UTC

got any tips for it?

2019-12-06 23:05:47 UTC

For the painting, I recommend you slightly tint the wash you use in different areas

2019-12-06 23:06:11 UTC

Slightly changing the color in areas adds a lot

2019-12-06 23:06:32 UTC

Can you explain it for retards?

2019-12-06 23:06:48 UTC

yeah she doesn't get it

2019-12-06 23:06:50 UTC

Tint it in what way kinda deal

2019-12-06 23:07:18 UTC

Observe the cheeks are a bit redish

2019-12-06 23:07:22 UTC

Some other areas, greener

2019-12-06 23:07:50 UTC

Darker areas should be a bit blueish

2019-12-06 23:08:03 UTC

yeah, but you see, i'm not nearly as good as you

2019-12-06 23:08:11 UTC

i can't use the fancy schmancy techniques

2019-12-06 23:08:52 UTC

That depends on how well you manage watered down paint. You can alter the color of the wash as you apply it

2019-12-06 23:09:08 UTC

you can also try to add a layer of very watered down paint to add a bit of color to some areas

2019-12-06 23:09:38 UTC

how bout these

2019-12-06 23:09:52 UTC

i know i fucked up on the shoulders

2019-12-06 23:10:58 UTC

The weapons are actually the part that displeases me the most, quite flat

2019-12-06 23:11:06 UTC

One thing is rusty weapons

2019-12-06 23:11:11 UTC

Another one, 100% brown ones

2019-12-06 23:11:17 UTC

completely agree

2019-12-06 23:11:26 UTC

but these figures tortured me

2019-12-06 23:11:34 UTC

a lot of stuff went wrong at the start

2019-12-06 23:11:42 UTC

so i finished em up real quick

2019-12-06 23:11:58 UTC

For quick finish of some kinds of miniatures, consider chipping medium, or pigments

2019-12-06 23:12:17 UTC

what would the chipping medium do?

2019-12-06 23:12:22 UTC

It works this way:

2019-12-06 23:12:40 UTC

You first paint with a base of rust-color paint

2019-12-06 23:12:44 UTC

Then you apply a layer of chipping medium (usually with airbrush)

2019-12-06 23:12:51 UTC

Then you paint with the normal paint

2019-12-06 23:13:05 UTC

Then you slightly rub with a brush, and bits of paint will chip off

2019-12-06 23:13:30 UTC

Can you apply chipping medium with a brush as a last resort?

2019-12-06 23:13:41 UTC

yeah got a broken airbrush

2019-12-06 23:13:51 UTC

happened during the orks

2019-12-06 23:14:17 UTC

I don't really know if a brush can be applied

2019-12-06 23:14:40 UTC

greenstuffworld sells lots of products for having fancy miniatures in a minimal time, that is their audience
