There is this idea that whatever the pope writes in a bull while on the toilet creates this obligation
So of course the consequence is "since these popes that we know better say things that are retarded, they can't be Pope"
What is included under “faith and morals”?
Theologians speak of the “Object” of Infallibility, i.e., those aspects of faith and morals which necessarily pertain to the Church’s Infallibility. According to Msgr. G. Van Noort,1 there are both primary and secondary objects.
The primary object is all of the truths explicitly contained in Scripture or Tradition. The secondary object is “all those matters which are so closely connected with the revealed deposit that revelation itself would be imperiled unless an absolutely certain decision could be made about them.” Hence, the following must be considered as guaranteed by the Infallibility of the Church:
a. theological conclusions
b. dogmatic facts
c. the general discipline of the Church — in other words, the Church’s laws and the Church’s liturgy cannot contain something harmful to faith and morals.
d. approval of religious orders
e. canonization of saints
This is what constitutes ex Cathedra
I don't care about what theologians speak
Not “a pope on the toilet”
What do you mean?
Everything you say is some fuzzy thing said by random people
"theological conclusions"
"general discipline"
What is the source of all that you just quoted?
Lmao theologians
I couldn't care less about theologians
Can you point me to the council that gives this authority to those "theologians"?
No, the dogmas were constituted by the ecumenical councils and similar
They weren't "theologians", they were bishops in a council that is declared ecumenical by the pope
Because those councils need the Pope to declare them ecumenical lmao
Someone says
"the following must be considered as guaranteed by the Infallibility of the Church:"
Says who lmao
The councils are the clear example: we have something that is stated as authoritative and declared as ecumenical by the popes as a privilege of authority
Then from whatever is authoritative I expect a similar formula, and statement
^ average discord thomist
cba
I have too much work
2 romans is enough to stop the catholic onslaught
me and dasick
gn
think im gonna work
Gn
Can't be, because that includes the error of Peter, and others
Peter was the head of the Church, Peter taught something that was wrong, which is why Paul corrected him
Stop adding adjectives, and start seeing the common sense that is the rejection of ultramontanism
This retarded obsession with what the celebrity popes say
Oh yes, what the "theologians" say lmao
And your council that says pretty much "the pope is authoritative when he is authoritative"
Not wrong
But says nothing
