Ah

2018-11-12 15:39:17 UTC

Get in front of everyone and kneel just to flex on them

2018-11-12 15:40:02 UTC

I do it when confessing or when we do the Lord's prayer/Nicene Creed if i feel like it

2018-11-12 15:48:40 UTC

How to properly flex on these folks sticking their hands out as if they are catching rain during the our Father?

2018-11-12 15:51:54 UTC

Not a lot you can do about that, unless you plan to explain to them on a case by case basis that they shouldn't be doing it.

2018-11-12 15:52:23 UTC

Which is no mean feat. People seldom enjoy being told they're wrong.

2018-11-12 15:52:51 UTC

Yeah, i don think this is worth creating a huge fuss over

2018-11-12 15:53:11 UTC

Maybe i addres it if it came up during a conversation

2018-11-12 15:53:51 UTC

Only way to really get it to stop is to get your mass ad orientum.

2018-11-12 15:54:15 UTC

I find people are less inclined to do it of the priest isn't facing them.

2018-11-12 15:54:44 UTC

even in new rite solemn mass, it seldom gets down even though, strictly speaking, it's an NO mass.

2018-11-12 15:54:46 UTC

that makes sense

2018-11-12 15:55:04 UTC

Oratorians really need to start picking a fecking side, tbqh.

2018-11-12 15:55:20 UTC

I mean, at least they're not Jesuits.

2018-11-12 15:55:22 UTC

But still.

2018-11-12 18:20:48 UTC

How is an oratorian different

2018-11-12 18:29:30 UTC

Most oratories I've seen so far like to play both sides. I don't know if Brompton is any different, however if the ones I've been to so far, there seems to be a genuine belief that both masses, extraordinary form and NO have the same substance, etc.

2018-11-12 18:29:43 UTC

They seem to be very "don't rock the boat".

2018-11-12 18:38:49 UTC

Who's moaning about the Oratorians?

2018-11-12 18:39:56 UTC

Whats an oratorian

2018-11-12 18:39:57 UTC

Als

2018-11-12 18:40:12 UTC

Why do people cup their hands when reciting the nicene creed

2018-11-12 18:40:16 UTC

The Oratory of St Philip Neri

2018-11-12 18:41:11 UTC

Oratoriums are religious societies

2018-11-12 18:41:38 UTC

Founded in the 1500's in Rome, each Oratory is entirely independent from each other. Whilst Oratorian priests belong to their Oratory for life, they are still considered secular priests who belong to the diocese, since they are without vows.

2018-11-12 18:41:40 UTC

Or rather, orders

2018-11-12 18:42:05 UTC

So what does that have to do with people holding their hands up during the Our Father

2018-11-12 18:42:08 UTC

No, Based Chav was referring to the Congregation of the Oratory.

2018-11-12 18:42:27 UTC

Nothing, that was an unrelated topic.

2018-11-12 18:42:35 UTC

Ahhh

2018-11-12 18:42:53 UTC

Why do people do it then

2018-11-12 18:42:57 UTC

And should I do it

2018-11-12 18:44:03 UTC

@Based Chav don't talk about what you don't understand. There is a lot going on behind the scenes in each Oratory, especially in England. There are very particular reasons as to why various English Oratories don't have the Tridentine Rite as their Sunday High Mass, and I can assure you that if the fathers got their way, they would all be exclusively Tridentine.

2018-11-12 18:44:42 UTC

2018-11-12 18:44:59 UTC
