we have a 6pm mass with bass guitar which kinda sucks
he wants to start having bbqs etc after mass sometimes and doing more bible studies and stuff outside of just mass during the days so students can come
our 3 Frs, 2 are youngtrads and 1 is a 50 something year old, really nice guy
3 priest wowe
BBQs after mass is a great way to boost attendance
yeet
our bishop visits regularly as well
he used to anyway
we have like 3 priests in the whole city who would say the latin mass, and one of them is FSSP
before he passed
i heard a new one is coming
Fr Youngtrads are pushing hard for more TLM and also ad orientem
but old father is hesistant
he actually does a NO in Latin every friday, but he's afraid that letting the parish become too trad will actually drive out people
I really wish there was more outreach from the trad community here, there barely seems any. The only thing I see from the FSSP parish I go to is mass times in the Archdiocese newspaper
all the dudes in the frat are trad or trad leaning, and the regular attendees are too which is amazing
There's one inner-city parish which has a young priest who has been very very slowly and pastorally trad-ifying his boomer parish and having great success. I think he's starting to do a Latin mass once a week
but trad can mean anything from "I dont think women serving and guitars are a good idea" to full blown "only TLM REEEE"
yeah true
most of the people I talk to are the prior
which Archdiocese?
Canberra-Goulburn
the bishop plays the most important role tbh
good bishop=healthy parishes
Ive had the honor of having one of the best bishops ever
and the new one is shaping up to be pretty cool too
He invited ICKSP into his old diocese, and when the boomers tried to kick them out of the parish he personally made it a point to attempt to reconcile them
The Bishop here is pretty good all things considering - he is very much involved with his community, travels several hours to do masses in the outskirts of our (quite large) archdiocese whenever he has a free Sunday. He teaches proper orthodox doctrine and his masses at the Cathedral are pretty good for NO. He is also really happy to accomodate FSSP, and goes and does 1962 rite confirmations etc
The territory the city is in recently passed laws enforcing mandatory reporting of confession and he basically wrote a letter saying "piss off we aren't going to break the seal of confession"
BASED
He's not super based, quite boomer in his outlook, but he at least doesn't teach any heresy or anything
he is a very much "smell like your sheep" kinda guy, I've talked to him in person all the time. He has a habit of talking to you in a condescending way like you don't know anything at all, but he's pretty nice
ah.
My former bishop was super nice to all of us
Your corner of the Catholic world seems pretty lucky
It also doesn't help that my city is the most radically left pro-gay etc place in the entire country
my uni as well
