You should learn how to make your own fancy book covers with reliefs etc

2019-05-09 08:39:57 UTC

bruh I wish, hold up, lemme nab some of my favorites from my collection

2019-05-09 08:43:56 UTC

can't be that hard. You take some measurements, create some kind of hard rectangle, put some things on ir or decorate it in any way, then add it to the bindings

2019-05-09 08:47:36 UTC

I mean, strictly speaking yeah, but in the same way that anyone can piss their name into the snow, it's a lot of work to make a truly beautiful binding

2019-05-09 08:49:51 UTC

amazing

2019-05-09 08:50:43 UTC

That second one is in the best shape of any book I've ever saved, it's almost like it's been sitting on a shelf since 1890

2019-05-09 08:51:11 UTC

Do you draw, by the way? I saw a pack of pencils

2019-05-09 08:51:56 UTC

Not really, I just dabble in everything, I do a bit of calligraphy but I'm not much of an artist

2019-05-09 08:52:52 UTC

I do calligraphy too, but I kind of abandoned it for a long time, I have to practice a bit someday

2019-05-09 08:53:01 UTC

MAinly blackletter

2019-05-09 08:53:37 UTC

Tbh I gave up on remembering names and specifics after I finished the class

2019-05-09 08:54:15 UTC

I tend to just go with whatever sort of lettering comes out easiest for whatever I'm doodling

2019-05-09 08:55:07 UTC

I recommend crosshatching for a nice aesthetic

2019-05-09 08:56:32 UTC

I do like the look for blocks, I tend to go for just using broad chisel pens though, my attempts at actual art letters tend to fall flat

2019-05-09 08:57:06 UTC

Show us something someday

2019-05-09 08:57:08 UTC

I tend to just stick to words, lemme see if my portfolio is around I can drop some samples

2019-05-09 09:00:07 UTC

Here's one I did doodling in a class a while back

2019-05-09 09:00:32 UTC

Nice letters, but random decoration

2019-05-09 09:00:49 UTC

(don't expect much form doodles of course)

2019-05-09 09:01:06 UTC

Yeah like I said, not great in the way of art lmao

2019-05-09 09:01:16 UTC

Needs a big first letter

2019-05-09 09:03:08 UTC

This one was an actual assignment, the first one was more me making up poetry to use up letters, this is what I turned in for that alphabet

2019-05-09 09:04:32 UTC

Do you have a dip pen?

2019-05-09 09:04:57 UTC

Since then though I've basically given everything else I've made away, most of it is just calligraphy marker

2019-05-09 09:05:07 UTC

I did work with some dip pen

2019-05-09 09:05:27 UTC

I would get a dip pen and a huge, flat nib

2019-05-09 09:05:43 UTC

It's nice as long as they work

2019-05-09 09:05:50 UTC

But my hands are kind fucked

2019-05-09 09:06:04 UTC

Dip pens don't like stutter

2019-05-09 09:06:46 UTC

If the strokes are fast enough, I doubt some stuttering will matter

2019-05-09 09:07:09 UTC

I can do flowing cursive, but calligraphy proper is a headache lmao, tend to go through 30-40 pages trying to do projects in dip

2019-05-09 09:08:08 UTC

My issue is I tend to tense and freeze, on top of carpal tunnel, so I ink holes in my paper and then keep getting worse as I try harder

2019-05-09 09:09:13 UTC

With the marker if I'm careful I can do partial strokes that blend, which means I can drop the pen and pick back up if I need to

2019-05-09 09:10:22 UTC

Maybe practice can solve the problem, but I don't know

2019-05-09 09:11:59 UTC

Nah, it's a tick, gets worse with time, typical member of the master race shit
