You should learn how to make your own fancy book covers with reliefs etc
bruh I wish, hold up, lemme nab some of my favorites from my collection
can't be that hard. You take some measurements, create some kind of hard rectangle, put some things on ir or decorate it in any way, then add it to the bindings
I mean, strictly speaking yeah, but in the same way that anyone can piss their name into the snow, it's a lot of work to make a truly beautiful binding
amazing
That second one is in the best shape of any book I've ever saved, it's almost like it's been sitting on a shelf since 1890
Do you draw, by the way? I saw a pack of pencils
Not really, I just dabble in everything, I do a bit of calligraphy but I'm not much of an artist
I do calligraphy too, but I kind of abandoned it for a long time, I have to practice a bit someday
MAinly blackletter
Tbh I gave up on remembering names and specifics after I finished the class
I tend to just go with whatever sort of lettering comes out easiest for whatever I'm doodling
I recommend crosshatching for a nice aesthetic
I do like the look for blocks, I tend to go for just using broad chisel pens though, my attempts at actual art letters tend to fall flat
I tend to just stick to words, lemme see if my portfolio is around I can drop some samples
Nice letters, but random decoration
(don't expect much form doodles of course)
Yeah like I said, not great in the way of art lmao
Needs a big first letter
This one was an actual assignment, the first one was more me making up poetry to use up letters, this is what I turned in for that alphabet
Do you have a dip pen?
Since then though I've basically given everything else I've made away, most of it is just calligraphy marker
I did work with some dip pen
I would get a dip pen and a huge, flat nib
It's nice as long as they work
But my hands are kind fucked
Dip pens don't like stutter
If the strokes are fast enough, I doubt some stuttering will matter
I can do flowing cursive, but calligraphy proper is a headache lmao, tend to go through 30-40 pages trying to do projects in dip
My issue is I tend to tense and freeze, on top of carpal tunnel, so I ink holes in my paper and then keep getting worse as I try harder
With the marker if I'm careful I can do partial strokes that blend, which means I can drop the pen and pick back up if I need to
Maybe practice can solve the problem, but I don't know
Nah, it's a tick, gets worse with time, typical member of the master race shit
