Qualifications of Bishops
<1> The saying is sure: whoever aspires to the office of bishop desires a noble task. <2> Now a bishop must be above reproach, married only once, temperate, sensible, respectable, hospitable, an apt teacher, <3> not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, and not a lover of money. <4> He must manage his own household well, keeping his children submissive and respectful in every way— <5> for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how can he take care of God's church? <6> He must not be a recent convert, or he may be puffed up with conceit and fall into the condemnation of the devil. <7> Moreover, he must be well thought of by outsiders, so that he may not fall into disgrace and the snare of the devil. ```
Lmaoing at unmarried priests
Especially making a requirement out of something that Paul himself was under virginity
Paul never made that a requirement.
We allow unmarried priests as well.
You really can't compare those who are married to those who dedicate their lives to God
The point is that, once you're ordained, everyone else in the Church is your spiritual child, so dating, marriage, etc. after that is a kind of spiritual incest.

False Asceticism
<1> Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will renounce the faith by paying attention to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, <2> through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared with a hot iron. <3> They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. <4> For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, provided it is received with thanksgiving; ```
I really dont get your point
You forbid priests to be married.
@Mozalbete ⳩ he's saying celibacy and fasting are heretical.
Never said fasting was heretical
Sure because that is what is expected froma priest
Which is stupid. Fasts are as old as the Church.
Nobody forces them to be priest
Abstain from certain foods
Marriage is not food friend
So is celibacy.
ABSTAIN FROM CERTAIN FOODS.
READ. ABSTAINING FROM CERTAIN FOODS IS NOT HERETICAL
Is heretical*
Luckily we are not talking about food
Fasting isn't. Fasting is good

Fasting includes abstaining from certain foods, hombre.
Forbidding marriage is sinful
So is divine virginity, which is why we ask that of priests
It is not forbidden, you are free to not to be a priest
We need to look at the context here.
Paul was just referring to Bishops, yes?
The context is it comes from a man who said consacrated virginity is the highest position
There is a difference between forbidding marriage, and choosing to stay a virgin.
So if someone was married (of course, to a single wife) when becoming bishop, it was expected that he would have no sex
There is a difference between forbidding marriage and choosing to be single.
So if you want marriage, what we ask is easy: dont be a priest
When someone is married the two become one flesh.
And a priest is married to the Church/congregation/whatever
Which is why priest's wives are honored like nobody else in Orthodoxy.
