Easier said than done, yes
However once realising that you're doing just as bad as the gay then it probably adds weight to it
Just dont be gay
Yeah I already knew all that, I just failed at it once.
We men have the struggle with lust, yes
Pray for the gift of Purity
Daily morning thanking prayers, daily nightly prayers
Saints have gone to extremes to keep their purity, but that's another story
i.e jumping into freezing water, running out of a room where there was a prostitute, etc
Yeah
don't break your stride
or you go to hell
*if you don't confess
*and keep living in sin
Now on another note:
Nietzsche had some good points with his tracts about post-modernity and "hyper-reality"
Read Kierkegaard
Nietzsche centers around the Knight of Eternal Resignation
Kierkegaard proposes the Knight of Faith to counter that
I am aware, but that's not at all what the Knight of Eternal Resignation is
The KoER is literally the übermensch in Nietzsche's eyes
Because despite what the name suggests, the KoER is able to raise above most men
However he's one step below the Knight of Faith
Who has resigned himself entirely to the will of God
and therefore is able to achieve whatever he desires, for he believes God can grant him anything, as God is able to do anything
I thought the ubermensch was supposed to be the one that could recognize the true underlying spiritual values of the world that everyone else lost sight of.
On the contrary, the übermensch has, according to Nietzsche, crossed through the stage of rising above religion. but recognizes it keeps other men tied to rules, and strives to further improve his fellow men
I never heard that. I thought the common man was worthless to him.
It is to an extent, for not every man can become an übermensch
Alright, even if that's the case, I was talking about his points on post-modernity and hyper-realism
Basically because he was right
Hyper-reality is where a simulated reality, a "simulacrum" becomes more 'real' than reality because reality has become so devoid of anything meaningful.
The misconceptions around Nietzsche arise from the popular paraphrase "God is dead". The next line, often left out, is "and we have killed him". I haven't read much Nietzsche, but I get the impression that the die-hard atheist ubermensch portrait of him arises from this and similar paraphrases.
I see it all the damn time now.
@Jimbo2025 Yeah, basically
Hyper-reality is pretty much exemplified in Donald Trump.
Remove God from the equation and it all becomes meaningless
He got elected because he's a good showman who gives good entertainment. Nobody gives two shits about his policies or his character.
