And possibly ecologically helpful to think of all that sea water rushing in to the Arid Southwest

Places outside of Death Valley and whatnot would get water which would expand the amount of land with agricultural potential lowering the cost of food

Waterfront property which would become the surrounding area of Death Valley is considered more valuable the people who live there could easily it rent or sell their land for a fuckload of profit

Plus with Death Valley becoming essentially a giant Harbor that would probably help with shipping and offer extra ground for shipping companys to accept boats
