but that would be a perfect "I dont want to carry a smartphone" smartphone
Also according to FAQ they're all simlocked
```The JioPhone only supports Jio 4G VoLTE SIMcards. You cannot use any other network SIM card with the device.```
Btt, @androidcrawler kaios is made in Cali and it's a b2g fork
I doubt it will be maintainable for a long time without having hundreds of developers. b2g is largely deprecated technology
But then Google put millions into that OS so they probably won't just let it die
And big players like Facebook are supporting it, too
WhatsApp is a nazi when it comes to maintaining platforms and they jumped on the KaiOS wagon right away, so...
There are enough big players behind it and a few things that went wrong in both iOS and Android, are being done better here
For example, not everyone can just publish their apps. Apps are handpicked
aka only CABAL aproved apps to their store
:P
pay for app store
Handpicked by whom? Tbh it's pretty easy to call poo bias here
No, they have transparent requirements for every app. Those requirements are about UX, stability and compatibility
so no code checking ? just the surface
That's the fun part because it's based on b2g
You have no way to run an app without having the source
Also your app may not be just an iframe and everything is on your server, which is nice, too
