who do you get from climbing, to gliding to flying
Lots of small mammals used glide assist in trees
it's such a weird adaptation to have develop
Monkeys, lemurs, rodents, plenty
then there's the primate theory for some bats
which would mean divergent evolution but it seems that theory has no wings...heh
To get to the flapping bit is a stretch, but if you are a high-r species then... wtf... might work
to go from gliding which is pretty common in mammals but to flying, its believed they're nocturnal to not compete with birds
makes me wonder why only bats of all mammals fly
