You mentioned the village aspect. You know in a lot of ways the books are the comparison between a villagers perspective and the huge big world.
I got to thinking.
The first books really paint the world as a huge scary confusing place.
As early as the first books rand gets stuck in that strange alternate post-apocalypse world if I recall?
That was book 2.
Because of the waystone.
His takes on power structures and the characters in general were great.
The books could have used a really aggressive editor.
They're so long when I try to remember them I can't remember what happened where.
