Yeah. I’ve seen some sites that use disqus and have some draconian comment policies. You practically can only comment on the subject matter in the article.
This site has some pretty draconian comment policies. The give the ‘charity’ of editing comments with why and what the censor.
Haha looks like quite the popular shitposting spot /s
Do people badmouth the cars? Lol
I badmouth green cars
Some do. There are tons of virtue signalers though. I’m not as concerned about the cars; I actually want to get an electric car because I think it’s cool. I’m mostly concerned with the ‘lets force people to buy green cars’ attitude.
I do read through several environmental news/websites and I’ve noticed some SJW like trends in environmentalism. These trends aren’t new, but I’m wondering if they’ll gain more power. What do y’all think?
This article is just the tip of the iceberg.
Aren't electric cars bad for the environment too?
Well, not necessarily. From an emissions standpoint no. However,I don’t know what will happen at the end of the battery’s lifecycle. It is highly likely that they will be recycled, but that’s it’s hard to predict what will actually happen. I would argue that the relative impact of electric vehicles is less than gas, but it doesn’t justify forcing people to buy them. IMHO
I would recycle them. I like metalcasting
lead is really easy to work with
I’ve never done metal casting. Sounds cool. Most modern electric vehicles use lithium ion batteries.
I defer to the University of Minnesota's study. If the source of electricity comes from coal it is *significantly* more toxic than gas
I don’t know about that. I’ll check out that study and see what they did.
If the power supply comes from gas, the electric cars do half the damage as gas cars
However, it is easier to control emissions at the plant level and nearly impossible to control emissions at the tailpipe level.
It depends on the standard
As much other problems as there are with the system, Commercial Diesel Exhaust is currently cleaner than what you exhale
There's plenty you can do on the tailpipe level, but that's in regards to my state's standards at least
not saying MY state's standards are even the greatest they could be. I'd have to look into that
but I will say that we are fairly green, being in somewhat close proximity to the Chesapeake Bay
it takes burning 3x the fuel to get there, but Semis are currently spewing oxygen and water
For instance, cars fail emissions test very often because of their cat system
here, at least. I can't speak to other states
I could talk at length about this, because I work in the industry, but I have to go TO work in the industry
Tailpipe tests aren’t the same as using technology to sequester the emissions.
Sure, 96 and older get the tail pipe test, whereas newer get OBD2
I'm pretty sure it's 96, and not 95...
it's 96
We'll have to continue this another time then, J
Ok
I'm actually confused as to when and how CO2 turned bad
because we've all been spewing that out since the day we were born
I know CO is bad and I know why, but suddenly people are talking all about CO2
Yeah I know what you mean. It's kinda like the gender crap
It just spontaneously appeared out of nowhere
