He will readily admit when he thinks he's been an idiot about something

2019-04-02 17:13:14 UTC

Tim wouldn’t eat them enough

2019-04-02 17:13:31 UTC

He might

2019-04-02 17:13:44 UTC

Don't be canabiliphobic

2019-04-02 17:13:52 UTC

Luckily, I don’t rely on celebs, I use deep archetypes👹

2019-04-02 17:13:56 UTC

He just needs to stop being a closet libertarian and come out already :^)

2019-04-02 17:14:30 UTC

Tim? He will do what he’s going to do.

2019-04-02 17:14:38 UTC

Sargon

2019-04-02 17:15:01 UTC

Fine by me, all the above, till we cross paths.

2019-04-02 17:15:27 UTC

He will make the full libertarian argument and then magically backpedal when he is about to move into the region proper

2019-04-02 17:16:11 UTC

I'd like to think that most of the political YTers I watch are acting in good faith

2019-04-02 17:16:17 UTC

Meh. We see. As long as they don’t explicitly cross me, I’m ok.

2019-04-02 17:16:38 UTC

Crossed

2019-04-02 17:18:40 UTC

You don’t have to be with me, to not be against me, in my world. That’s an important thing

2019-04-02 17:18:57 UTC

I think Sargon isn't doing it to be malicious

2019-04-02 17:19:03 UTC

He's just doing a slow conversion

2019-04-02 17:19:28 UTC

He’s ok. And cross. And I know why. I am too there

2019-04-02 17:20:48 UTC

I’m one of those people who values life to be of less importance than legacy.
That’s dangerous

2019-04-02 17:21:31 UTC

he's definitely been moving towards libertarian at a somewhat slow, but steady, pace. I remember him doing a political compass test a few years ago and being moderately left of center. He did one again a couple of months ago, and was just barely right of center. I think one of his biggest sticking points is universal healthcare.

2019-04-02 17:21:48 UTC

Ye

2019-04-02 17:22:46 UTC

Universal healthcare is good. No doubt. It’s the “too what level?” Which is the kicker

2019-04-02 17:23:26 UTC

Ye

2019-04-02 17:24:19 UTC

"Universal" "too what level" 🤔

2019-04-02 17:26:01 UTC

I know you can say just for certain procedures, but I don't think any line you draw on that side will hold very well

2019-04-02 17:27:43 UTC

it's a complicated issue

2019-04-02 17:28:03 UTC

because like many things the left often pushes for, on its face, it's a great idea

2019-04-02 17:28:29 UTC

but the issues lie in the details of it

2019-04-02 17:31:08 UTC

I have a friend who has a pharmaceutical degree, and from what he's explained to me, essentially, if the US went in on universal healthcare, our medical research would collapse, which would have a domino effect on the rest of the western world (since extremely cheap healthcare works in Canada and Europe because they buy drugs that have been on the market for a few years off of the US at a notably reduced price).

China would likely end up taking over as the leading country in medical technology, as well

2019-04-02 17:31:23 UTC

At least, that's what he's explained to me. I may be misremembering this slightly, since it was a while back

2019-04-02 17:31:28 UTC

The defense of universal healthcare I've heard from Sargon is "it's convenient"

2019-04-02 17:32:01 UTC

lol

2019-04-02 17:33:23 UTC

There's also the problem of the amount of people relying on high paying, relatively accessible jobs in healthcare, like nursing. The payment for all those jobs would have to decrease

2019-04-02 17:50:25 UTC

@aguyyouknow yes. That’s generally true. The US pays for a large portion of medicine research. That’s why our drug prices are so high. The other countries just fix prices and don’t pay their fair share because of it.

Back to universal health.
Try this in a question:
1) Would you give first aid to someone bleeding out?
2) Would you house a plague victim if hospitals were full?
3) Would you tolerate a plague carrier?

2019-04-02 19:54:56 UTC

These are hectic things below our thinking centres

2019-04-02 20:03:05 UTC

@Nic Harvard Reason #1 why I don’t want universal healthcare: I’m not paying for lifestyle caused health problems.

It literally subsidizes bad choices.

2019-04-02 20:03:49 UTC

Check three options above? *^

2019-04-02 20:04:43 UTC

I would give someone help if they were bleeding out, however I don’t want the government to force me to do it.
