same as any product

2019-08-05 04:02:41 UTC

Goods and Services are not a human right

2019-08-05 04:02:50 UTC

The question there, then, is whether you have a right to self harm?

2019-08-05 04:02:59 UTC

no one is saying that tho @FrostyCrits

2019-08-05 04:03:05 UTC

they are not saying they are entitled to it

2019-08-05 04:03:12 UTC

that would mean they dont have to pay for it

2019-08-05 04:03:23 UTC

Either way, there is a logical reason why people under the age of 25 shouldn't be drinking alchohol.

2019-08-05 04:03:41 UTC

There isn't any reason we shouldn't be expecting more of young men and women

2019-08-05 04:03:43 UTC

there is a logical reason why noone should drink alcohol

2019-08-05 04:03:52 UTC

or eat pizza

2019-08-05 04:04:01 UTC

or anything else fun

2019-08-05 04:04:04 UTC

Telling people they can't do something just makes them want to do it more

2019-08-05 04:04:13 UTC

also true

2019-08-05 04:04:20 UTC

There is specific developmental harm to drinking alchohol before your mind has finished maturing

2019-08-05 04:04:36 UTC

is it governments role to be a nanny tho?

2019-08-05 04:04:39 UTC

It's not a general "it's bad for you"

2019-08-05 04:04:56 UTC

No, but society makes certain rules to protect each other

2019-08-05 04:05:11 UTC

If it comes down to a question between personal freedom and having a nanny state, I will choose personal freedom every time

2019-08-05 04:05:19 UTC

thats too broad @DJ_Anuz

2019-08-05 04:05:24 UTC

agreed spanners

2019-08-05 04:05:24 UTC

But it's not black and white

2019-08-05 04:05:30 UTC

So why do you have the right to destroy your body after that? Who are you to determine which amount of self harm is accaptable and which one isnt?

2019-08-05 04:05:34 UTC

that said, I think there's merit in promoting more healthy lifestyles

2019-08-05 04:05:59 UTC

advocacy about risks of certain choices, sure. but abolition? no

2019-08-05 04:05:59 UTC

Okay how about this, irresponsible use of alchohol directly cann harm others

2019-08-05 04:06:19 UTC

like what, DUIs? sure outlaw that

2019-08-05 04:06:40 UTC

Irresponsible use of anything can harm others

2019-08-05 04:06:50 UTC

People that can't hold their liquor are a danger to society. And people who haven't finished developing physically are at greater risk of that.

2019-08-05 04:07:07 UTC

Yeah but alchohol is especially dangerous to others around you.

2019-08-05 04:07:14 UTC

talking about politics on the internet can directly harm others. If you talk to a crazy person and they go out and kill someone. Outlaw political speech.

2019-08-05 04:07:17 UTC

Depending on how you manifest it

2019-08-05 04:07:17 UTC

how are ppl who cant hold their liquor a "danger to society"?

2019-08-05 04:07:26 UTC

you realize that that phrase justifies use of force?

2019-08-05 04:07:34 UTC

@Big T they waste good booze

2019-08-05 04:07:37 UTC

lol

2019-08-05 04:07:39 UTC

Violence.

2019-08-05 04:07:55 UTC

so punish the violent action, not the booze consumption

2019-08-05 04:08:03 UTC

Alcohol has very few properties that make it effective outside of drinking. If you removed the effects of it, people largely wouldn't drink it for the "taste."

2019-08-05 04:08:04 UTC

Why are you assuming that if there was no drinking age everyone would drink, that's simply not true

2019-08-05 04:08:07 UTC

you are making the same argument the teetotalers did

2019-08-05 04:08:18 UTC

But what if the booze results in the violent behavior
