in canada

2018-07-29 20:26:50 UTC

What do you mean social system?

2018-07-29 20:26:55 UTC

healthcare and stuff

2018-07-29 20:27:15 UTC

health welfare social security etc

2018-07-29 20:27:21 UTC

Healthcare isn't too bad. It's nice going into a hospital and not having to pay any fees, save for some medications. Ambulances still cost a lot, though

2018-07-29 20:27:45 UTC

Though, the wait time for a lot of doctors in my province is extremely high.

2018-07-29 20:27:57 UTC

If you need to see a family doctor, you best book it *months* in advance.

2018-07-29 20:28:02 UTC

wait time as in having to sit in the waiting room for a long time

2018-07-29 20:28:04 UTC

oh

2018-07-29 20:28:29 UTC

If the problem is urgent, you should go to Emergency.

2018-07-29 20:28:34 UTC

well you dont know when you're going to be sick months in advance haha

2018-07-29 20:29:00 UTC

When waiting at Emerg, it can take minutes to be seen by a doctor, or up to 10 hours.

2018-07-29 20:29:10 UTC

It depends on how busy Emerg and Triage are at the time

2018-07-29 20:29:26 UTC

If you are on an organ transplant waiting list..

2018-07-29 20:29:31 UTC

Make that months, possibly years.

2018-07-29 20:29:39 UTC

And there's a high chance you'll die before you get a working organ

2018-07-29 20:29:45 UTC

huh

2018-07-29 20:29:47 UTC

what about sick leave

2018-07-29 20:29:50 UTC

?

2018-07-29 20:29:54 UTC

That, I don't know shit about

2018-07-29 20:30:02 UTC

oh okay

2018-07-29 20:30:15 UTC

Materinity and sick leave vary by province.

2018-07-29 20:30:27 UTC

Nova Scotia is 10 months at least iirc.

2018-07-29 20:30:44 UTC

Alberta is only a few months

2018-07-29 20:30:45 UTC

Etc.

2018-07-29 20:30:53 UTC

a few months per year that you can be sick?

2018-07-29 20:30:55 UTC

or what do you mean with that

2018-07-29 20:31:03 UTC

No, I mean, materinity.

2018-07-29 20:31:07 UTC

oh right

2018-07-29 20:31:13 UTC

As for sick leave, I can't remember

2018-07-29 20:31:16 UTC

It isn't much, though

2018-07-29 20:31:39 UTC

read somewher on reddit that in the US it's like 10 days of sick leave

2018-07-29 20:31:47 UTC

i mean what if you're sick for 11 days

2018-07-29 20:31:50 UTC

just go to work while sick

2018-07-29 20:31:53 UTC

makes no sense

2018-07-29 20:32:01 UTC

Probably around 15 here because Canada can be a bit easier on you.

2018-07-29 20:32:08 UTC

hmm

2018-07-29 20:32:17 UTC

over here i don't think there's a set limit

2018-07-29 20:32:24 UTC

just need a doctor confirmation when you're sick

2018-07-29 20:32:39 UTC

that can be annoying if you have a bad cold for example

2018-07-29 20:32:47 UTC

If it's a serious illness or something that can be lifethreatening, it can be extended.
