They'll have to asspull for the next Avengers though
When you have a franchise that is on rails by design, there's not too much flexibility
also when you're missing a good chunk of the Marvel characters too
they don't even have Nitro who was the catalyst for the entire comic event
It's a pointless choice to make because you know they'll have everyone, or nearly everyone come back
Marvel ain't losing that Spiderman or Chris Hemsworth Cheesecake money
the question isn't always do they win, but how they win
and at what cost
the stakes have always been about Cap and Tony
The cost will be nothing that will harm future movie options. How they win will be an asspull
Can you really imagine having all of the heroes from the MCU and X-men series in one movie? It would turn into a plot that would necessitate having the highest paid actors be in the spotlight, and everyone else would be so stretched thin
Would not be worth it at all
You wouldn't make it one movie
it was damn impressive how they pulled off Civil War and Infinity War
the Russos are damn good at what they do
I assume end game is going to kill off the expensive actors
Everything being wrapped up in one film is a terrible formula for a long running series
RDJ was expensive because he made them all that money in the first place
Even if it was 2-3 movies, I don't think they'd like the cost vs. just telling the story
MCU has the advantage of playing the long game to the extreme
they can take some time but it's not infinite, the actors can only look the part for so long
so more MCU movies?
More MCU movies that serve a larger creative purpose
which they do
Rather than being another origin story or "guardians made money, what can we do with that?"
the movies to date have all been about putting the pieces in place for the 3rd and 4th Avengers movie
for Thanos
Let's be real here. If those movies had failed those characters wouldn't have absolutely 100% been needed in muh Thanos arc. The C list characters exist to see if they can make money off of those too
Disney is not in this to craft storylines. That happens as a byproduct of an investment they have made
Guardians set up Thanos, Gamora and Nebula in the first place who are essential for the Infinity Wars storyline
Disney aren't but Fiege is
he makes them money so they give him enough freedom to continue to do so
most of the MCU is determined by Kevin Fiege with some creative freedom given to the individual movie directors to work within his world
Yeah I don't think anyone is under the illusion Disney/Marvel do these movies for the creative storytelling
They're just comic movies
That will sell heaps
What they want, ultimately, is a steady character rollout so they can keep making money at an increasing rate. I bet you anything that if the "foundation" characters for a given arc were unsuccessful/unpopular, that they would just write them out
They do a lot of unprecedented things in cinema, which I think is pretty cool
I've heard rumors that they have two version of end game. one where captain marvel is important and where she's less important. They'll decide which one to use based on how captain marvel does. I don't really believe this rumor, because the release date seem to close to me to be able to make that decision.
Unless they've already spent the money, they'll just drop things that don't do well if they don't think they can flip you on it
