its no longer a red county tho 😦
flipped blue for the midterms
that was our last strong hold
that's sad, California really is lost
dana rohrbacher was my rep
hes gone now 😦
cali really is lost.
our new governor will just make it worse
there's one protection against their infiltration
live in a black neighbourhood
we've had a dem super majority in the state legislature forever, and now we have a super progressive governor. full steam ahead
bet you miss the Governator
oh totally. he was super milquetoast, but compared to gavin newsom, hes damn near trump haha
funny enough is gavin newsom (our new gov) was the mayor of san francisco
to give you and idea of how he governs
he built a train to nowhere right?
all of cali built a train to nowhere
the highspeed rail is a total joke project
its been like over a decade and we have nothing to show for it
other than one station in san fran (and i think maybe one other), but no train or tracks
they wanted the damn thing to have a cruising speed that NO other current highspeed rail can do
in the entire world
the typical "we can do better, we can do the impossible" california mindset
to surpass the bullet train?
sec i'll look it up
ach trainset will have a sustained continuous speed of 220 miles per hour (350 km/h);
each*
a high speed rail isn't a bad idea but it's got to actually go places people want to go and actually be built
it would take a lot of energy to reach those speeds
oh for sure, the concept isnt a bad idea and it connects major cities. la and san fran/san jose
but as usual its tied up in infinite red tape
these are the full specs:
each trainset will have a sustained continuous speed of 220 miles per hour (350 km/h);
a maximum testing speed of 242 miles per hour (389 km/h);
a lifespan of at least 30 years;
a length no longer than about 680 feet (210 m);
the ability to operate two trainsets as a single "consist" (a long train);
have control cabs at both ends of each trainset and the ability to go equally well in either direction;
pass-by noise levels (82 feet (25 m) from track) not to exceed 88 dB at 155 miles per hour (249 km/h) and 96 dB at 220 miles per hour (350 km/h)
have at least 450 seats and carry 8 bicycles;
have seating for first class and business class passengers as well as have space for wheelchairs;
have food service similar to airplane-style serving;
allow for use of cellphones, broadband wireless internet access, and onboard entertainment services;
have a train communications network to notify passengers of travel/train/station/time information;
and also have earthquake safety systems for safe stopping and exiting.
the noise limit one seems hard to do, considering they want it to pass through the cities
there was talk of a high speed rail here which would be great because Aus is huge and the major cities are a long away apart but it's not going to happen government owned rail and all
as usual the gov is just too damned inefficient
oof imagine how much eminent domain they'd have to do for it too
we've been preparing for this since 1996
tell me about it my hometown has waited 20 years for a new range bypass to be built
in 96, they created a WHOLE NEW government dept to plan for this
so we've been paying for them this whole time.
