That gun story reminds me of something that happened at the high school I graduated from. In the name of zero tolerance, a guy was I think suspended for having a deer skinning knife in the bed of his truck that he'd parked at school.

related story: My father is a retired firefighter. He told me the department tried to lower the standards by testing the physical condition of the oldest firefighters. When they all passed the current standards they threw out the results and lowered the standards anyway.

yeah, i heard that some fire departments are lowering the standards to get more women into firefighting

it's a great way to get people trapped in fires and other firefighters killed

the news clearly erasing female engineers by not reporting more on such incidents smh

it was this one firm chock full of overweight hispanic female engineers

the owner was related to everyone in local government

they all scratched each other's backs to get federal and state money for diversity

then a bunch of people died when their bridge collapsed before it was finished being built

they used their local connections to get the media to lie about it

it took about a week for the full story to come out, and by then the nation had moved on

it enrages me that such things are allowed to happen

i hope they haven't gotten any other work since then

i brought up the case of yaniv up when some guy started to talk about the baker case in another discord, and brought up the hipocrisy of denying religious freedom in one case but promoting it in another case... he started talking about it being a matter of training, to which i replied that you can force training too, not just the skill being offered... it devolved into him calling me a retard fundie and being grateful that "people like you will die out"
