really hard to watch? what you expect, there's a reason we got rid of public executions. sick bitch
Yeah, I can't say I have much sympathy.
Yeah, it was considered a form of entertainment.
I don't know when or why that changed, but apparently the tide turned on that one.

you think maybe there's a correlation between the two?
🤔
Where is the feminist outrage?
Sexual deviancy and worshipping Satan 🤔
Ironically, the church of Satan doesn't worship Satan. But is very self-indulgent
A bunch of LARPers.
Self worship is close enough
How long before media coverage cries out for further Government enforced gun control?
Texas has a number of laws relaxing gun restrictions going into effect, so they're already complaining about that
And Beto was already on TV explaining how he'd prevent this shooting we know nothing about
Fucking, Beto...
I wish Beto would commit hard enough to his fake mexican bullshit that we could deport him.
Didn't beto make a campaign stop in mexico?
i believe public executions stopped because it led to execution being a form of entertainment and as such could lead to disproportionate sentencing for a crime. Also I'm sure there was some moral outcry around the celebration of death or the visual acts appropriate for the fairer sex.
public executions probably had very little or zero impact on preventing crime. From a criminal perspective, punishments actually don't serve as much of a deterrent. if your going to die, or go to prison for 60 years, wtf do you care if there is a chance of a public execution or not, your life is still Fd. public executions were to appease the citizenry and had nothing to do with crime prevention
But why was there an outcry after it being entertainment for thousands of years? I think its because people became unfamiliar to death. If half your children and multiple of your wives die and you expirience the death of members of your community through violence or illness much more closely than people do today you are not as repulsed by a criminal being executed or tortured. People are too afraid of blood these days, we are completely removed from death and actually afraid of seeing it.
Also disagree on the crime prevention, its true that the criminal does not necessarily care that his execution is public therefore knowing that will be part of his punishment wont stop him from committing a crime, but seeing the punishment being carried out on another criminal will serve as a deterrent since just being told what the punishment for a crime is and seeing a criminal having every bone in his body broken and hearing his screams are two very different things.
the fairer sex didn't care, i remember hearing on the hardcore history podcast, there is an account out there of a guy being repulused that a couple started fuckin during one of the biggest executions that happened in france, basically people had no issues fuckin and being entertained by the blood and pomp that accompanied the usual executions
i think it was part of the whole "human rights" stuff that made that slowly disappear, as the elite felt it below them
The pessimist in me says our "white male" won't have a European style name

Article is a little over a week old but... WTF!? Did not expect to see a "positive" article about Trump coming from the CNN. https://www.cnn.com/2019/08/15/perspectives/trade-war-trump-triumph/index.html
@Putz
*"what you expect, there's a reason we got rid of public executions."*
Biggest mistake we made until some faggots decided executions were cruel and unusual or some such shit.
@Legalize, @wolfman1911,
Some people went to be entertained, this is true, but the purpose was to ensure the people ***REALLY UNDERSTOOD*** what would happen if they did what the condemned did.
Ehem... That's why absolutely ***BRUTAL*** execution methods (shit that would earn a movie an NC-17 rating at best) were generally used... Except Crusifixtion, because of Jesus' Crusifixtion we're all completely desensitized to that method.
@Niknar84 its labelled an opinion not news article
Execution prevents the criminal from committing another crime, so it can prevent crime. Lol
@Legalize
You said something about executions being entertainment, and you'll partially right. (It kills me to say that btw.)
@Salacious Swanky Cat
Well, then there's that...
@4AM_critter 🐉 since when has CNN done anything but opinion
