well top 5
I might not watch it, not a fan of blackwashing lol.
what
who was blackwsahed?
you mean Michelle wasn't Mary Jane?
She's an entirely different character. Personality and role in the story is entirely different.
right
i knew that
I know they aren't portraying it the same.
the only thing is using the nickname MJ
And it totally makes sense that Queens in 2016 has a non homogenous cast.
That doesn't make sense at all.
The plot is still at it's core, very much Spiderman. As is his character arc.
what doesn't make sense?
I can't speak to the character fully because i've not seen it, but that doesn't mean Marvel doesn't know what its doing. You don't just name 2 characters the same thing and not think it will matter to people.
What i was saying doesn't make sense is DJ's idea that because its Queens means it makes sense to not have a homogeneous cast. This isn't a great justification to change a character (if it is indeed what they wanted to do).
im sure the reason for the character change is because Disney and Zendaya and blablabla
money reasons
After the new Little Mermaid casting, i'll just be happy when they switch it up and make Black Panther, White ~~Power~~ Panther heh.
I don't care about that, I just care that the story is well written and the characters are engaging and believable albeit in a fictional world
It's because Spiderman has always been about relatability. (At least IMO) and we've had two different Spiderman movies series that did a horrible job of that.
The MCU Spiderman is a modern day revision of his character. Staying true to the core of his character, but in a modern setting with modern challenges.
Everything from Aunt May, to Peter's powers are different from the comic.
I just care that the story is well written and the characters are engaging and believable albeit in a fictional world
Same thing with the setting, school challenges he faces, the cultural norms of what's cool and whatnot.
Michelle being MJ is more fulfilling a trope than it is actually making Zendaya Mary Jane.
As for the little mermaid, if it's set in the carribean and they don't use the name Ariel, I've got no problem with the casting choices.
And they will never make the white panther because this only goes in one direction in 2019
I just care that the story is well written and the characters are engaging and believable albeit in a fictional world
and maybe less pandering
Maybe the color spectrum is circular and they will keep going and end up wrapping around to white?
After all, color is just a social construct
KKKolor
I like MCU Spider-Man. I don’t really get all the hate.
@Shadows @DJ_Anuz in response to the white panther thing, the clan that M'baku was free was called the "white gorilla tribe" for obvious reasons the movie left that bit out. speaking canonically, it there's no reason or precedent for a white panther except for triggerREEEEing people obvious. Also there's already a White Tiger who they could defs bring into the MCU eventually maybe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Tiger_(comics)
There are far too many comic book movies for me to give a single fuck about any of them anymore
It helps when they are some of the only hollywood movies you watch
I just don't watch many movies. Saves me a lot of time and a not insignificant amount of extra cash
Very few movies emerge out of the sea of mediocrity and prove themselves worthwhile
I agree
Hollywood doesn’t earn my money
