Social Security costs about $900 billion so it would be substantially bigger than any current entitlement

2019-07-24 03:07:48 UTC

Delete all entitlements, then we can talk UBI

2019-07-24 03:09:14 UTC

How about we delete all entitlements and then *don't* talk UBI?

2019-07-24 03:09:42 UTC

It would be about the current cost of Medicare/caid, SS, Unemployment, and food stamps combined

2019-07-24 03:09:49 UTC

Because it's literally just a foot in the door down the hallway to Communism

2019-07-24 03:09:59 UTC

Survival of the fittest.

2019-07-24 03:10:10 UTC

Down with entitlements!

2019-07-24 03:10:35 UTC

We weren't living in the world of 'nature red in tooth and claw' before entitlements.

2019-07-24 03:10:47 UTC

People are capable of helping each other without government force.

2019-07-24 03:11:04 UTC

Not taking into consideration that SS is a ponsi scheme that people have already paid into and you can't really end it or switch the money over to a different entitlement

2019-07-24 03:11:14 UTC

@pokemon_fetish I never realized how many songs I love are by Toto.

2019-07-24 03:12:26 UTC

I wonder how long until Vox decides a white guy singing about Africa is racist

2019-07-24 03:12:33 UTC

Soon ™

2019-07-24 03:12:45 UTC

The music video was hilariously weird, I had never seen it before.

2019-07-24 03:16:01 UTC

All I can think about is how long until he is #MeToo'd by his secretary

2019-07-24 03:16:42 UTC

Ah, the 80s.

2019-07-24 03:16:48 UTC

I wish I was old enough to remember them.

2019-07-24 03:18:00 UTC

Duran Duran > Toto

2019-07-24 03:18:10 UTC

Change my mind.

2019-07-24 03:32:12 UTC

Primus > human existence

2019-07-24 03:45:41 UTC

*"YANG is an idiot."*
Yes, I suspect the point of my shit math question might have been there...

Sadly a better option exists, but if I bother trying to say it 8 people will inter (right there)upt me and tell me I'm wrong because they know so mu(and again)ch better what I'm about to say, and be utterly ***WRO***(again)***GN.***

2019-07-24 03:46:36 UTC

Yes, you are such a victim because people disagree with your proposed extremist legislation...

2019-07-24 03:47:03 UTC

Why don't you just go ahead and suggest your alternative instead of playing the martyr?

2019-07-24 03:56:46 UTC

Wrogn!

2019-07-24 03:56:55 UTC

Joe wrogn

2019-07-24 03:58:20 UTC

Because of responses like that...

Let's see, first time, 5 years ago, it was called *"a profit scheme for big oil."* Next, about a year later, *"no such industry."* Uh, next one was *"you don't understand market forces, you'd need a pipeline costing millions"* (I snicker at this, because it was specifically over DAPL).

I've danced to this tune before...

2019-07-24 04:05:04 UTC

What. The. Fuck. are you talking about?

2019-07-24 04:05:21 UTC

*What is your better option as an alternative to the UBI?*

2019-07-24 04:06:35 UTC

Part of me wonders if this is just one giant meme-scheme by Masala Curry.

2019-07-24 04:43:33 UTC

@[DGI]tech broke me with that "Masala" thing...

I for one get subsidies, especially for startup industries; One is hard-pressed to find a more startup industry than mass solar power.
I do NOT “get” wasteful spending, and mass solar really IS wasteful; The idea that you can power say Denver (where cloud cover is a strong constant) using solar panel is Colorado is absurd, bordering on fraudulent. The idea you could place these panels in Arizona (where this cover is a relative rarity) and transmit sufficient power is even more so (there “was” a même floating around to this effect a couple years ago, purporting that enough solar panels to cover Germany could power the entire world). It crossed the “absurd/fraudulent” boundary and keeps on trucking into the “¿Are you REALLY as stupid as you are?” realm.
What solar panels CAN do is crack water into hydrogen/oxygen, which then can be shipped to Denver or anywhere ELSE for that matter for use in local generators- And for you conservationists (and environmentalists) out there, hydrogen generators convert the hydrogen into… Water. (It requires more energy at point of development than it delivers at end point, but it’s using a free energy source, therefore the costs of production depreciate over time with minimal depreciation of equipment.)
¿Was this a fraud from the outset? Probably.

2019-07-24 04:43:53 UTC

More importantly, ¿CAN WE RECOVER OUR LOSSES? I say “Yes, -IF- we are willing to force the changes needed to do so.”
Special thanks to 4timesayear for the tip (even though we don’t agree on the solar/hydrogen issue wink).I have spoken of my desire to get us off petrochemicals entirely, a proposal met with some resistance due to economical issues; This report, if true, has dumped the apple cart entirely:
Researchers have developed a new type of electrode to shows potential to allow seawater to be converted to hydrogen fuel- An inexhaustible supply, since hydrogen fuel cells emit water vapor as it's only waste product. My earlier proposal was to desalinate and clearify seawater durring shipment to vast solar farms in Arizona and New Mexico, where the panels would be used locally only to make the conversion, and the fuel thus generated trucked or piped to regions where it would be used. Now, potentially, seawater itself could be used immediately, removing a major strain on the energy produced.
While not yet a slam dunk, it's a major potential step forward...Back to work;
Major agenda points:

2019-07-24 04:43:58 UTC

Incentivizing new energy programs:
Fossil fuels WILL run out. That can not change, no matter what anyone wishes.
We MUST prepare the way forward to renewable energy sources. The best overall option is hydrogen cell based engines, which allows hydrogen to be released from water using electricity that can be provided by solar, thus being manifestly inexhaustible.
There will likely be a transition period, wherein jet, train, and 18 wheelers remain on petroleum based fuels, but once this technology is developed it will eventually overtake those sectors as well.
To incentivize the market, I am proposing a 1Ø year tax break to the industry, with a FURTHER 1Ø deferment, AND doubling this against conversion kits for standard automobiles; Not only will the developers, sales reps, and installers get the deferment, but buyers will as well as the vehicle's value is federally declared "null" for registration purposes, making registration essentially $1.

2019-07-24 04:44:13 UTC

Damn, without being interupted too...

2019-07-24 04:48:01 UTC

I'm glad I could be of comedic assistance.

2019-07-24 04:49:32 UTC

Also, solar, while interesting, is meme-territory. I want nuclear, and fusion.

2019-07-24 04:50:50 UTC

...
Ya, uh...
Hydrogen is a byproduct of nuclear power... Which made it my original thought, until the greenies went apeshit. 😔😔😔😔
