All works of fiction are based off of something like 7 basic narrative frameworks.
Everything in cyberpunk borrows heavily from prior work
It's sort of like the Lovecraft mythos except they exist in different universes
I meant there was lady who sued for copyright infringment
Did she win?
but I can't tell if she won or not
Snopes says "false" but that's Snopes
Tbh I dont really care about copyright infringement
k
There are dozens of "a computer controls everything" stories
For years there have been
And "youre stuck inside the computer" shit
There was a lot of debate in how the Matrix is a retelling of biblical stories
Yeah a lot of narratives are also just biblical, or have biblical applicability
Same with classical literature. Once heard the Warriors explained as a modern Odyssey
I mean... it is
like, intentionally so
I heard fight club explained as a story written by a gay man about male toxicity. And matrix as a story directed by two trans as a trans/coming out story.
like oh brother, where art thou
Fight Club is definitely not about male toxicity
Maybe female toxicity in some parts
Fight Club is about a search for meaning
^isn't palahniuk a massive shitlord?
The author was on JRE
Yeah
tf does shitlord mean
He seems like a cool dude
He's a shit disturber
asplain
I'm using it here as short hand for "not-pc"
He enjoys coming up with awful and uncomfortable scenarios in his work
"likes to dick around"
^also that
Which makes me want to read all of it :P
regardless of his online personality, FC was dumb
But yeah fight club is about people escaping ennui via anarchy
Overhyped sure but I enjoyed the break from the conventional
Kind of like what's happening now 🤔
I suppose it's been overhyped, though considering just how highly regarded it tends to be, that's... not hard to do
it was overhyped when it came out by all my pot-smoking anarchist psuedo-friends
