like when your intestines try to sell you on fascism
'cause the writing for that conversation was cringy as hell
I mean, I know my head would explode if you could like, in the Conversation you just linked, be able to start talking crime statistics.
It's a fantastical setting but that would be a cool option.
honestly, the big thing that bugged me is that the game seems pretty insistent on telling me that the free market is bad
and then gives no options for me to say "no, I actually like capitalism, thanks"
you definitely get those
well, not up to the point that I played, it didn't give them
sure
except one highly sarcastic remark
just saying they do show up
you can also show disdain for commies
I was just looking at this game btw.
Beeman how did you like it overall?
I'm 10ish hours in. Definitely on the high end of my RPG experiences so far
but yeah, some of the conversations veer one way or the other
I will say that the mechanics that they decided to use impressed me greatly already
it's a very unique system and does a good job of actually making it feel like non-combat stats are important
the thought system seems really interesting, as much as I didn't get a chance to explore it yet
Yeah?
Yeah, thoughts are time centric bonuses you can obtain, and all your stats are used as part of the dialogue system
which is how you handle everything. Everything is dialogue, even interacting with random objects, or yourself
I enjoyed DOS2, didnt touch Pillars2 after bouncing hard off of 1
the other CRPGs I like are older
Pillars 1 and 2 is a strange beast. 2 is more accessible but simultaneously a lot more stupid.
I just found 1 really repetitive
The guy that did New Vegas dropped out of the writing halfway through
yeah I heard about that too
1 had a weird story and incredibly complicated but boring world backstory
I just really liked the Combat
And the story kind of grew on me.
I didnt like how dungeoning was handled. Maybe it got better later but the early game was like 6 rooms of the same encounter, fighting it in the same way, and having to heal every X number of rooms, which means using a consumable or going back to a permanent rest point
Wasnt especially attached to any of the characters either
Game lacked a main obvious story to work on
even that isnt really an issue for me to be honest. I love STALKER, for instance
I've beaten pillars in hardest twice now so...
So in Disco, you say you argue with yourself?
yeah, you have different internal components that are their own sub-characters
theyre tied to stats as well
was looking at the achievements for the game
