like when your intestines try to sell you on fascism

2019-12-14 07:08:58 UTC

'cause the writing for that conversation was cringy as hell

2019-12-14 07:09:06 UTC

I mean, I know my head would explode if you could like, in the Conversation you just linked, be able to start talking crime statistics.

2019-12-14 07:09:28 UTC

It's a fantastical setting but that would be a cool option.

2019-12-14 07:09:47 UTC

honestly, the big thing that bugged me is that the game seems pretty insistent on telling me that the free market is bad

2019-12-14 07:10:00 UTC

and then gives no options for me to say "no, I actually like capitalism, thanks"

2019-12-14 07:10:09 UTC

you definitely get those

2019-12-14 07:10:18 UTC

well, not up to the point that I played, it didn't give them

2019-12-14 07:10:22 UTC

sure

2019-12-14 07:10:25 UTC

except one highly sarcastic remark

2019-12-14 07:10:26 UTC

just saying they do show up

2019-12-14 07:10:34 UTC

you can also show disdain for commies

2019-12-14 07:10:41 UTC

I was just looking at this game btw.

2019-12-14 07:11:01 UTC

Beeman how did you like it overall?

2019-12-14 07:11:38 UTC

I'm 10ish hours in. Definitely on the high end of my RPG experiences so far

2019-12-14 07:11:53 UTC

but yeah, some of the conversations veer one way or the other

2019-12-14 07:11:58 UTC

I will say that the mechanics that they decided to use impressed me greatly already

2019-12-14 07:12:12 UTC

it's a very unique system and does a good job of actually making it feel like non-combat stats are important

2019-12-14 07:12:29 UTC

the thought system seems really interesting, as much as I didn't get a chance to explore it yet

2019-12-14 07:16:57 UTC

Yeah?

2019-12-14 07:17:26 UTC

My recent rpgs are Pillars2, DOS2, and Witcher 3

2019-12-14 07:17:27 UTC

Yeah, thoughts are time centric bonuses you can obtain, and all your stats are used as part of the dialogue system

2019-12-14 07:17:40 UTC

which is how you handle everything. Everything is dialogue, even interacting with random objects, or yourself

2019-12-14 07:17:56 UTC

I enjoyed DOS2, didnt touch Pillars2 after bouncing hard off of 1

2019-12-14 07:18:11 UTC

the other CRPGs I like are older

2019-12-14 07:19:01 UTC

Pillars 1 and 2 is a strange beast. 2 is more accessible but simultaneously a lot more stupid.

2019-12-14 07:19:14 UTC

I just found 1 really repetitive

2019-12-14 07:19:28 UTC

The guy that did New Vegas dropped out of the writing halfway through

2019-12-14 07:19:38 UTC

yeah I heard about that too

2019-12-14 07:20:02 UTC

1 had a weird story and incredibly complicated but boring world backstory

2019-12-14 07:21:04 UTC

I just really liked the Combat

2019-12-14 07:21:13 UTC

And the story kind of grew on me.

2019-12-14 07:22:12 UTC

I didnt like how dungeoning was handled. Maybe it got better later but the early game was like 6 rooms of the same encounter, fighting it in the same way, and having to heal every X number of rooms, which means using a consumable or going back to a permanent rest point
Wasnt especially attached to any of the characters either

2019-12-14 07:22:57 UTC

Game lacked a main obvious story to work on

2019-12-14 07:23:17 UTC

even that isnt really an issue for me to be honest. I love STALKER, for instance

2019-12-14 07:25:35 UTC

I've beaten pillars in hardest twice now so...

2019-12-14 07:26:06 UTC

So in Disco, you say you argue with yourself?

2019-12-14 07:26:34 UTC

yeah, you have different internal components that are their own sub-characters

2019-12-14 07:26:47 UTC

theyre tied to stats as well
