Im glad **I** left that place

2019-09-30 17:50:10 UTC

I'll just throw this out there: my mom is a public teacher and there are definitely *some* parents who do not give a shit about their child's education and the state employees care more in those cases. But otherwise, I would not rely on them to do so.

2019-09-30 17:50:25 UTC

Oh definitely

2019-09-30 17:50:29 UTC

sure

2019-09-30 17:51:01 UTC

but on the whole parents are gonna care more

2019-09-30 17:51:47 UTC

She also teaches the kids who are falling behind so I probably hear more stories than average

2019-09-30 17:52:05 UTC

yeah

2019-09-30 17:52:43 UTC

I know someone who is a publc school teacher in a large metropolitan city and the stories of parents who don't give a shit are heartbreaking

2019-09-30 17:52:57 UTC

granted 95% of those are single parents

2019-09-30 17:53:03 UTC

and that gets back to the importance of those 'traditional gender roles' Tim Pool feels guilty for liking

2019-09-30 17:53:25 UTC

But a child's own parents, even if they attend public school, have the biggest impact on their learning.

2019-09-30 17:54:04 UTC

God forbid you want your kids to have a stable parent at home to strengthen your family ties and dynamics

2019-09-30 17:54:11 UTC

exactly

2019-09-30 17:54:34 UTC

Its not like that has a huge impact on a childs early developement

2019-09-30 17:56:18 UTC

I love how single moms get triggered on reddit on r/relationshipadvice

2019-09-30 17:56:53 UTC

You can always tell which ones are too. Every time.

2019-09-30 17:57:26 UTC

i dOnT nEeD nO mAn

2019-09-30 17:57:38 UTC

maybe you don't but your kid sure as hell does

2019-09-30 17:57:39 UTC

So empowered. So stunning and brave.

2019-09-30 17:58:48 UTC

yeah well unfortunately that's sorta the norm now

2019-09-30 17:58:54 UTC

Sad.

2019-09-30 17:59:19 UTC

I grew up with a single mom. Wasnt exactly a walk in the park

2019-09-30 17:59:29 UTC

not single parenthood (yet) but this idea that the traditional family structure is outdated

2019-09-30 17:59:35 UTC

oof

2019-09-30 18:00:14 UTC

I feel like single moms are getting way more praise than a lot of them deserve

2019-09-30 18:00:30 UTC

They're always so "brave"

2019-09-30 18:01:07 UTC

one of the greatest blessings I've had in my life is being born into a stable family

2019-09-30 18:01:24 UTC

mother and father, both of whom deeply cared for me and each other

2019-09-30 18:01:30 UTC

You're not brave for getting knocked up by a gangbanger who is going to prison and already has 3 baby mamas. That makes you a fucking idiot

2019-09-30 18:01:50 UTC

fr tho

2019-09-30 18:02:50 UTC

Yeah, it's getting more frequent that I'm reminded how fortunate I am to have a mom and dad who are still married and love me and my brother.

2019-09-30 18:02:58 UTC

amen

2019-09-30 18:03:55 UTC

Yeah Im really bothered by this whole promotion that you dont need to be married or in a stable relationship *before* you decide to have kids

2019-09-30 18:04:50 UTC

the thing is tho, culturally the position we're all espousing is very much in the minority. My sister, with basically the same upbringing, is of the 'oh you think I can't just do my career and all this stuff?'

2019-09-30 18:04:54 UTC

Obviously marriage isnt a guarantee (my parents were married when they had me) but its proven to significantly increase the likelyhood of kids succeeding later in life

2019-09-30 18:05:19 UTC

true

2019-09-30 18:06:15 UTC

Fucking feminism ruining everything

2019-09-30 18:06:21 UTC

Smdh

2019-09-30 18:06:51 UTC

They legit ruined homemaking for everyone

2019-09-30 18:08:08 UTC

which is insane too

2019-09-30 18:08:38 UTC

raising children properly is more important to the health of both the family and the republic than 90% of jobs right now
