oh okay so you mean don't have your vpn hosted in the US have it hosted in one of those other places

2017-03-23 01:46:38 UTC

i have heard that isn't as effective as you would think though. i read somewhere multiple connections aren't any more effective than just using one.

2017-03-23 01:46:48 UTC

although i believe everything i read on the internet.

2017-03-23 01:46:52 UTC

I ssh into my main box that is in Switzerland

2017-03-23 01:47:06 UTC

@Gerry yes

2017-03-23 01:47:12 UTC

Which has a dedicated Ip and I use ssh keys to log in

2017-03-23 01:47:30 UTC

Then I use that to log into any number of additional ones

2017-03-23 01:47:54 UTC

Then my Icelandic one which has arguably the best data protection laws anywhere

2017-03-23 01:49:33 UTC

hows ssh'ing into a server and requesting from there any different than proxying a request through a VPN in Switerland.

2017-03-23 01:49:42 UTC

Well

2017-03-23 01:49:54 UTC

Firstly it keeps my Icelandic box super safe

2017-03-23 01:50:17 UTC

Am I next?

2017-03-23 01:50:26 UTC

Set rules on the sshd daemon to only allow connections from my home static Ip and my Swiss Ip

2017-03-23 01:51:11 UTC

@Picassoツ I would hazard a guess that no you are not, I could be wrong.

2017-03-23 01:51:33 UTC

Then the Icelandic one i installed a hyoervisor and use it as a virtual machine; which has the benefit of acting as a remote PC that I then plug in my thumb drive with TAILS on it and use it that way

2017-03-23 01:51:37 UTC

If that makes sense

2017-03-23 01:52:14 UTC

But yeah I take a lot of measures. I only use cold storage for my btc wallets. Single use wallets

2017-03-23 01:52:14 UTC

well i agree that it's much more secure to do things that way, but does it improve anonymity?

2017-03-23 01:52:26 UTC

paper wallets?

2017-03-23 01:52:39 UTC

Yup

2017-03-23 01:52:45 UTC

damn that's hardcore.

2017-03-23 01:52:58 UTC

you write that shit down, right? can't trust the printers!

2017-03-23 01:53:00 UTC

Well I tend not to but BtC anymore really

2017-03-23 01:53:04 UTC

Yup

2017-03-23 01:53:09 UTC

No printers

2017-03-23 01:53:34 UTC

Mad tinfoil hattery up in here but it's legit af

2017-03-23 01:53:35 UTC

yeah i don't have enough in ethereum for it to be worthwhile but in the future i'm gonna have to figure out better ways to store my ether.

2017-03-23 01:53:52 UTC

it may be tinfoil, but at least it's safe.

2017-03-23 01:54:08 UTC

plus that's alot of money i'm assuming you have if you got in that early

2017-03-23 01:54:26 UTC

I've just come to terms that I'm being tracked. It sounds hard to be anonymous

2017-03-23 01:54:41 UTC

Either that or I type up a plaintext file with the info and then encrypt the file and put it into an encrypted volume on an SD card

2017-03-23 01:54:48 UTC

Yeah I was lucky to get in early

2017-03-23 01:55:13 UTC

Was tempted to sell when btc got to 300, now it's over 11-1200

2017-03-23 01:55:30 UTC

Estimated to go up to 10k eventually wouldn't be surprised if it does

2017-03-23 01:55:32 UTC

i'd probably go that way. i'd be afraid i'd write the wrong address down. one character wrong.

2017-03-23 01:55:38 UTC

damn. that high?!

2017-03-23 01:55:45 UTC

yeah. better hold onto that.

2017-03-23 01:56:09 UTC

god dammit

2017-03-23 01:56:11 UTC

i have been hearing they are going to fork the bitcoin blockchain. i wonder how that will affect the price.

2017-03-23 01:56:12 UTC
2017-03-23 01:56:33 UTC

Probably negligible
