Hey, so someone told me that the rise of antifa was a direct cause of violent right wing protesting. This didn't seem familiar to me as I can't really recall violent right wing trump supporters. This person told me based on the chronical order of events, the violent left was caused by the violent right. Can anyone find major cases of violent right wing supporters harming people from the left?

2017-09-16 08:05:27 UTC

I was under the impression that the alt right and white supremecists were a direct cause of rising left wing violence from Antifa/communists/ the alt left if you will.

2017-09-16 16:24:33 UTC

You have it right.

2017-09-16 16:25:19 UTC

But a lot of people seem happy to ignore every sin that Antifa commits, and boy are there a lot of them, so that they can denounce the specter of the KKK/Nazis.

2017-09-16 16:26:37 UTC

Antifa has its roots with radical leftist militias formed in the German Revolution of 1918-19. They came from a communist militia called the Spartacists who regularly clashed with members of the Freikorps, made up of German WWI veterans. The Freikorps would later go on to form the Nazi Party, and the Spartacist militias would make up the paramilitary wing of the German Communist Party.

2017-09-16 16:27:13 UTC

The name "antifa" was not coined until the 1920s, when antifascist groups rose to oppose Mussolini in Italy.

2017-09-16 16:28:29 UTC

The modern "antifa" movement, the kind we see riot at G20 or at the WTO, was born in the 1980s out of various violent leftist militias in Europe like the Red Brigades in Italy or the Red Army Faction in Germany. The period of left-wing terrorist violence in Europe is often called the "Years of Lead."

2017-09-16 16:29:03 UTC

Don't let the MSM fool you: antifa is deeply rooted in the radical left, and the radical right wing parties have historically sprung up as a reaction to them.

2017-09-16 16:29:45 UTC

Oh that explains this then.

2017-09-16 16:30:28 UTC

I see where they go the Sparta influence

2017-09-16 16:32:05 UTC

Actually their name comes from Spartacus

2017-09-16 16:32:14 UTC

The slave who led a revolt against Rome

2017-09-16 16:32:38 UTC

But it doesn't surprise me that no kid in college knows that; they don't learn anything about Western history.

2017-09-16 16:34:16 UTC

The formal name of the militia was the Spartacus League, which would later become the German Communist Party (KPD) and joined the Comintern in 1919.

2017-09-16 16:44:15 UTC

God, lefties are really big on delusions of persecution, aren't they?

2017-09-16 16:44:29 UTC

Yes indeed.

2017-09-16 16:44:47 UTC

Naming themselves after a guy that led a slave revolt, and was crucified for it?

2017-09-16 16:47:37 UTC

It does concern me though that despite their leanings to National Socialism they call themselves Alt-Right.

2017-09-16 16:48:38 UTC

That was very much on purspose

2017-09-16 16:48:44 UTC

Yeah.

2017-09-16 16:48:55 UTC

As far as I understand, the term was to show that they aren't in any way conservative.

2017-09-16 16:49:33 UTC

If you saw the interview Roaming Millenial did with Richard Spencer, he talks about being a Bernie bro.

2017-09-16 16:50:12 UTC

That's proves my assumptions then.

2017-09-16 16:52:50 UTC

I remember something about Spencer advocating for single payer health care, so that doesn't really surprise me. It just proves that their just using language to push their leftist agenda. Kinda like how a Democrat would bear the label of a Republican in a red state just so they can have a chance to be elected.

2017-09-16 20:59:01 UTC

Appreciate the feedback guys. Thanks a lot.

2017-09-17 04:35:59 UTC

So how did ANTIFA come about? In the 21st century? When and for what reason did they start all of this violence and thuggery in 2016?

2017-09-17 13:50:24 UTC

I think it was a perfect storm. Considering mediaheads have been labeling republicans racists, bigots and other derogatory terms for almost a decade. And the opposite could be said for the ideology of progressivism and socialism were they have been extolled. I'd imagine Soros and other leftists were thinking they could justify their thuggery against the so called "racist republicans".
