Also RIP Shadowrun's quality control
5th would be great if they had good formatting and didn't lose all their money to embezzlement
I kinda like the idea that these vampires that have spent centuries bound to the place they live in, because they can't necessarily get to another place where they wouldn't starve before dawn comes, and that they wouldn't be any quicker to move around now that they do have the ability to get just about anywhere within twelve hours.
Also, as cool as it was in practice, the idea of these globe spanning, vampire run conspiracies, especially the way those conspiracies placed them in charge of every world government except Nazi Germany seemed a little much to me.
@SteelandSouls fwiw it's not hard to get into PnP, and politically it's impossible to actually control. At worst your book will be filled with annoying garbage you just ignore because lolrule0
It's a good bit of social recreation for about 2h, and it can be good for writing exercises too if you're into that sort of thing
Introduced an absolute newbie to ADnD 2nd and she's been doing fine (mostly because the player never needs to touch most of the rules)
Quick question. What's PnP mean? I tried looking it up and Urban Dictionary is giving me the gay orgy definition
Pen and Paper
Very different
I'm afraid to ask, but the gay orgy definition?
Apparently PnP also means Party n Play
Which is not inaccurate to our current topic I suppose
Aside from the fact that it apparently refers to a gay orgy?
Right. That
The infrastructural requirements of an online DnD campaign are the ability to save/store text files, people to play with and some method of verified rolling really
Super good when they use totally innocious sounding phrases to refer to shit like that.
So like, unstoppable shitlordery really
Of those three, the second is the hardest to aquire.
By far.
I think the biggest hurdle I have to overcome is finding a world I can get into. DnD is by far the most renowned but just kind of tired of the whole Anglo Mythology aspect of it
There's plenty
Pick your poison. There's sci fi, cyberpunk, cyberpunk fantasy, Japanese fantasy, western fantasy, noir fantasy, modern fantasy and a multitude of historical games, off the top of my head
And by western fantasy I mean Old West with supernatural elements
Same game has a Noir variant
Western Fantasy sounds pretty cool
Then there is stuff like Weird scifi/fantasy mashup.
Deadlands my dude. Just make sure you look at Reloaded and not OG unless you like lots of math and extra rolling
Where the magic is all technology that the characters don't understand.
There's also a fair amount of scifi horror as it's own subgenre apparently.
GURPS and Savage Worlds are generalist systems overall- you can do whatever you like with em
Check out Snakes & Saloons, it's DnD5e conversion.
>D20 conversions
I've never understood the draw of these
I don't know if it's because I got started with World of Darkness, but I've always been especially uninterested in actual DnD.
Oddly, that same distaste doesn't apply to Pathfinder.
Maybe I'm just a hipster.
Pathfinder is basically 3.5 with newer shit
I've not been a huge fan of 3.x in some time
Basically since I started looking into other systems
Just read up on Deadlands. That sounds really cool
