No, I don’t need to witness him receiving the revelation. I need to witness proof that his revelation is of supernatural origin.
But scripture is not closed, but I agree with the criteria
Ok. So in an era where sleight of hand is easily accessible to an expertise, what would comprise a supernatural revelation in the modern era?
I suppose that's an unfair question to ask so I'll make it rhetorical with the point being that I'd sooner believe the criteria had dropped instead of the expulsion of prophets and prophecy
Raise a person from the dead?
Only one guy's done that
You forgot Elijah
Indeed I have
Although I'd say customs make that a bit more difficult to perform such an act
It'd be interesting to see someone do that. "Bring me your dead before you go to the mortician! I wanna try something real quick!"
Lol I don’t think a genuine prophet would care much for customs
It's not a matter of whether or not he cares for customs. It's a matter of customs keeping him out. Prophets are rare and it'd be a bit of an eye catcher for somebody to be wandering into funeral parlor's telling people, "check this out"
Lmao
I would have to disagree with there’s no use for modern day prophets
If there is a real prophet it will be almost impossible to tell that he's real.
maybe bill next door that says that communism will succed is right
our hes wrong and it will get another million our so people dead
Yeah, this is a great time for modern day prophets
@Ragglefraggle07 if your looking for the logic behind morality Stefan Molyneux's UPB AND Jordan Peterson's defense (for lack of a better word) of God in General and Christianity more specifically from a psychological/evolutionary/scientific perspective
pets your puppy for me blonde
Morality is tricky, even the golden rule "Do unto others as you would have done unto you." has shortcomings. What happens when a masochist takes that to heart?
All rules break down at the fringes tho
yep
But treat everyone like a parent treats a child i.e. as if you wanted the best for them seems pretty solid. Put another way love your neighbor (Catholicism defines loves as to will the good of the other as other)
*defines love as
That has some really negative consequences as well. Lots of parents commit pretty atrocious acts with just that mindset, that they want what's best and know how to bring that about in their children.
A lot of parents are terrible to their children unfortunately.
So it reads more like "Treat people like a parent should treat a child" and that doesn't get us anywhere really because it's still on us to define the way they should be treating kids at that point.
Well I would say how you know they are terrible is because you see them failing to meet the parental standard
but wanting to bring about the good in yourself and others is probably still the best mindset
it's just you need to be ever vigilant your efforts don't produce the opposite effect, and a lot of people forget to do that
Facts
What is it they say about the road to hell? Lol
It's paved in good intentions
and lined with virtue signals.
😂I like that
#prayforowen he’s losing it y’all
that's funny you say that I was just having a discussion with a buddy about that. It's uh, not looking too great. It's almost like if Sam Hyde was more serious about what he was saying.
There's a difference between a sauntering descent into madness and a new comedy set.
