@cap'n creamery you might be thinking of virtue, not morality.

2019-03-15 05:59:51 UTC

it's incredibly difficult to measure the effects of proposed moral frameworks

2019-03-15 06:00:14 UTC

vir·tue
[ˈvərCHo͞o]

NOUN
behavior showing high moral standards.

2019-03-15 06:00:17 UTC

It is stupid.

2019-03-15 06:00:19 UTC

you're trying to isolate specific variables out of tons of data, over large stretches of time

2019-03-15 06:00:20 UTC

this means people can have low standards

2019-03-15 06:00:27 UTC

which means people can have different standards.

2019-03-15 06:00:34 UTC

which means its subjective

2019-03-15 06:00:45 UTC

where does it say people?

2019-03-15 06:00:51 UTC

Who cares? That's literally how people use logic too

2019-03-15 06:00:53 UTC

that could be societal standards

2019-03-15 06:00:58 UTC

you're going to have to move outside of semantics. Also feel free to address my prior claim

2019-03-15 06:01:12 UTC

"proposed moral frameworks"
Every single society in existence was not built upon a "proposed moral framework". It was built by a common interest (that is also common among all species) which is to survive, and reproduce as long as possible.

2019-03-15 06:01:41 UTC

Part of that common interest is not murdering people, since that goes against these biologicsl intuitions

2019-03-15 06:02:10 UTC

Even the most savaged societies worked toward advancing humanity.

2019-03-15 06:02:16 UTC

but thats how you deal with behaviour - a proposed moral framework

2019-03-15 06:02:53 UTC

you're essentially attempting to push a particular code of conduct on the larger society, and it can be more or less effective dependent on its component parts

2019-03-15 06:03:21 UTC

sometimes said efficacy is not immediately apparent. Maybe you upped productivity and everyone is feeling pretty okay now that you've gone full police state

2019-03-15 06:03:33 UTC

Correct, but a "moral framework" is not the same as "morality"

2019-03-15 06:03:41 UTC

sure

2019-03-15 06:03:57 UTC

Objective morality is essentially the correct moral framework

2019-03-15 06:03:59 UTC

is he still here?

2019-03-15 06:04:13 UTC

with all other moral frameworks being "less moral"

2019-03-15 06:04:18 UTC

No.. Objective morality are moral standards that are set in stone

2019-03-15 06:04:36 UTC

Whether or not that is included in a moral framework is subjective

2019-03-15 06:04:53 UTC

you're not actually contradicting what I've said though

2019-03-15 06:05:49 UTC

ima just say that everything is intrinsically linked to value which is artificial.

2019-03-15 06:06:17 UTC

Like if we can sum up Objective Morality as answers on a test, it's the set of correct answers, and all other deviations from that - the other moral frameworks mentioned prior - are less correct. But ultimately Objective Morality is still a set of posible answers on the test. It's just the most correct

2019-03-15 06:06:40 UTC

Value isn't entirely artificial, though there is artificial valuation

2019-03-15 06:06:48 UTC

@cap'n creamery is being retarded again ⚠

2019-03-15 06:07:24 UTC

what about my post is wrong?

2019-03-15 06:07:28 UTC

You are part of a species that has survived because the entirety of non defective entities want to survive, and of those the majority want to survive and procreate

2019-03-15 06:07:48 UTC

Biological intuitions are not "values"

2019-03-15 06:07:59 UTC

ergo there are certain value judgements that will be inbuilt, and from those other associations can be borne

2019-03-15 06:08:12 UTC

We have a biological intuition to advance the human race, not a value judgement

2019-03-15 06:08:16 UTC

i wasnt refering to that and biology has no effect on morality equating the two is moronic at best.

2019-03-15 06:08:32 UTC

why wouldnt it have an effect on morality?

2019-03-15 06:08:53 UTC

so if i think killing all low iq racial groups would advance humanity i am moraly in the right.

2019-03-15 06:08:55 UTC

Our current moral framework is informed by biology

2019-03-15 06:09:07 UTC

that has nothing to do with the biological imperative

2019-03-15 06:09:25 UTC

what about morality has any link to biology? explain it for my pea brain please.
