probably at some point but I dont recall
Ask someone “are some people better than others”
A rightwinger will say “yes”
A leftwinger will give u a speech
The punchline is that lefties either they think outright that all people are ultimately equal
or they recognize people aren’t inherently equal, but they have to manage the cognitive dissonance from the conflict with their commitment to egalitarianism
I would say that you want to measure
social change to social conservatism
economic freedom to economic control
decentralized power to centralized power
for your main 3
PRECISELY
you can probably come up with a few other large categories but that's basically it
that’s definitely more accurate than the “politicalcompass.org” test
ancaps are your all the way freedom, ancommmies are a triangle, etc
Except that ancoms would probably claim to be for economic freedom
you can reword it
“Property rights” is probably a better description of the acis
*axis
but the crux of it is that property rights vs communal or state ownership is the issue
and then communal vs state is modified by centralized/decentralized power

which is why putting Richard Spencer, who is like, a straight line on the right, in with someone like me, who leans towards a straightish line on the left, but not all the way over, makes less sense than comparing him to a socialist
who is going to be L/R/R
At least they got themselves a few Gadsden flags to spur some esprit de corps
took them a few centuries but at least some of the see the light
Still not sure what to make of continuing to use left/right in political discussion. I think the Asian Capitalists were on to something to present the idea of a Political Triangle vs political compass
Ultimately, left-wing logic seems to inevitably lead to Socialist ideology, but being Right wing doesn’t indicate a unified ideology, the only thing in common is opposition to the Left
thats why I think it's a worthless scale
Depending on your preference to authority, you can span from Absolute Monarchy to Ancap as a rightwinger
I dunno
that said there's factions on the left too
the old guard hates the hipsters
By itself it is a useful distinction, but it’s ramapantly misused
there's a segment of the left, particularly in Canada, that does genuinely care about the workers
On purpose, I think
and they cannot stand the socialist idpol nutjobs
I think then the only difference between leftwingers tho is their dedication to pragmatism vs idealism
And depending on how consistently an individual leftie adheres to principles, if they have any, is toward total obliteration of private property
eh, I think there are people who dont take up communal/state ownership as a principle, and there's also a difference re: freedom of speech and the like
old school lefties are more inclined to be pro-rights outside of property and maybe religious rights
eh
well in any case, it still seems that Left/Right is a useful distinction, but widely misunderstood, and used incorrectly
Now I realize too u can’t define Right-wing as property-rights-first
