I think one of the things that holds back BitChute is the lack of a recommendation feature based on trending videos

2019-07-18 01:42:16 UTC

Ya, ok, sure. Whatever it is you call it.

2019-07-18 01:42:33 UTC

Recommendations introduce people to new content, that is very useful

2019-07-18 01:42:39 UTC

basically itd work by using a youtube downloader service, and then just use the upload API and upload the video using the same Title, Subtitle, Tags, whatever

2019-07-18 01:42:53 UTC

Recommendations is actually the thing i started this project with

2019-07-18 01:42:57 UTC

that and search

2019-07-18 01:43:41 UTC

But developing a provably politically neutral algorithm is not easy and it actually could cause MORE damage if i accidentally create a right-wing content bubble

2019-07-18 01:44:10 UTC

So i have lists of mined content creators from the left wing, I dont have that many, maybe 50 or so

2019-07-18 01:44:53 UTC

But we could also have a super simple website, where you could go and just drop your channel URL or youtube username into the submission form, and "sign yourself up as an alternative content creator"

2019-07-18 01:45:57 UTC

So ANY creator, left, right, center, CIA operative, anybody, could register their content as alt media content in the server side content indexer and serve as the suggestions / "up next" video provider

2019-07-18 01:46:10 UTC

Anybody but Main Stream News.

2019-07-18 01:46:31 UTC

I think users should be able to customize their recommendations and have all that info locally

2019-07-18 01:46:44 UTC

Wait, ¿how do you stop them?

2019-07-18 01:46:55 UTC

Yes, I would like to do what youtube SAYS they want to do but are lying about

2019-07-18 01:47:07 UTC

which is "give the user the most amount of control over their user experience"

2019-07-18 01:48:05 UTC

isnt there already dissenter

2019-07-18 01:48:17 UTC

maybe plug into that whole jive

2019-07-18 01:49:12 UTC

"tanning is f or hicks and poor people". Classic Blonde

2019-07-18 01:49:16 UTC

Oh also, I have 100% working a checkbox called "Decorporatizer" that eliminates ALL YouTube promoted MSM channels, which is just being done by a 2-hop web crawling algorithm, that finds all accounts associated with all the usual suspects CNN MSNBC FOX NBC CBS The Guardian Vox RT (the only good one ironically)

2019-07-18 01:49:50 UTC

like MSNBC has like 25 affiliated accounts, MSNBC Business, MSNBC Breaking, MSNBC Finance, blah blah

2019-07-18 01:50:07 UTC

also hellyeahbear, what do you mean?

2019-07-18 01:51:15 UTC

I thought about asking dissenter if I could get a copy of a query of all the logs of youtube video urls -> UploaderID -> Distinct

2019-07-18 01:51:54 UTC

Basically a mega dump of alt-media sources and stuff that people are interested in surrounding politics. Gaming, idk what else,

2019-07-18 01:52:03 UTC

But i doubt theyd give it to me

2019-07-18 01:53:11 UTC

...
@Dangerous Spaces is Sargon... 😲😲😲😲

2019-07-18 01:54:37 UTC

Another angle i took for a while is automating the recovery of deleted youtube videos. I have a 7-stage algorithm that tries basically different approaches to mine / web scrape / web api automate discovery of hidden, mirrored, backed up, or archive.org wayback machine'd copies of videos

2019-07-18 01:54:55 UTC

matt kills the joke again

2019-07-18 01:54:57 UTC

It only has about a 55% success rate depending on the time and date it was uploaded

2019-07-18 01:54:58 UTC

That'd be wonderful

2019-07-18 01:57:14 UTC

if its super old, I can recover the raw SWF stream, they arent even deleted. If theyre from like 2005-2009, I can Ajax exploit them and download a copy of the video. If theyre backed up to archive.org, I can scan there and download. Also i have a couple services i found that were originally mirroring content in order to circumvent country-specific restrictions on youtube streams, but can be leveraged for anticensorship purposes. Also theres a service called MirrorTube but that has a super low success rate

2019-07-18 01:59:20 UTC

Sounds really cool

2019-07-18 01:59:53 UTC

So if I'm understanding you mostly right, you're associating mirrors instead of hosting the videos themselves

2019-07-18 02:00:08 UTC

Well i could ALSO host them as the last line of defense

2019-07-18 02:00:18 UTC

Kind of like how Google used to be just an indexer

2019-07-18 02:00:22 UTC

i know a guy who works with the NFL hosting provider service for streaming

2019-07-18 02:00:35 UTC

and he can give me lots of cloud space and he loves the idea

2019-07-18 02:00:49 UTC

That would be nice

2019-07-18 02:01:35 UTC

Probably the most expensive part for any platform wanting to replace YouTube is the space to host videos

2019-07-18 02:01:58 UTC

If the NFL saves the internet I'll have to actually watch football

2019-07-18 02:03:01 UTC

Has anyone talked about Peter Thiel on Google yet?

2019-07-18 02:03:12 UTC
