The options you're given also do a lot to potentially negate sections of the final dungeon
How so?
Sort of. It's like they split the dungeons into a hundred or so puzzles, but not all that many of them are interesting, and then the divine beasts are just very short spatial puzzles
I thought the Divine Beasts were an elegant solution to that. I always felt like a quality Zelda dungeon should feel like solving a giant Rubik's cube from the inside out, and BotW took that to a whole new level.
I know what you mean though
You can boost past most of the content by accident
Re: final dungeon
The castle is so much fun
I only found out how cool it was later, because in exploring the outside I ended up skipping almost all of the inside
Yeah it's gnarly
So one day I'll do a DLC included botw run and spend most of my time in there
Wait, what.
So you can accidentally skip passed content?
Yeah. I mean you're guaranteed to miss a certain percent unless you use a guide or are incredibly meticulous, but the final dungeon is like accidental speed run tech tier
Dang.
I've long since learned to not expect any single Zelda game to fully embody "what a Zelda game should be"
Granted you can go back down and scour more
Also, was it just me, or did anyone else find limited weapon durability fucking annoying?
guess that depends on you define "what a zelda game should be"
I like the idea but not for legendaries
like what Zelda is that for you?
The other hero weapons should work like the master sword
But I don't care about exploding clubs and rusty shit
Right. Those are meant to be cheap.
I like the variety. I love OoT, Wind Waker, SS, BotW ...
But once you get good gear you tend to want to use cheap gear anyway.
Yeah, I think that does help with some potential scaling issues but it does activate my JRPG inventory management instincts
I really liked BotW, which is weird, because I've soured pretty hard on open world games.
SS was cool because they kinda blurred the line between the hub world and the dungeons
Agree with SS
While having the WW element
that's why those two are my favorites
Yeah they're really good
BotW's good bit was the combinations of things, like timestop launching boulders with you on them, or people discovering flight
true exploration a la Elder Scrolls
I wish the boss to the Ghost ship didn't look like something out of Monsters Inc though haha
idr what it looked like
Tbh TES has been a big ol disappointment
That big 6-armed Buddha-esk statue boss was badass though
