So here ill give you an example

2019-10-25 01:56:51 UTC

there is no danger

2019-10-25 01:56:53 UTC

Trucking is ripe for it. I do this job. My dad owns his truck. 40%+ could be done cheaper right now with minimal infrastructure investment.

2019-10-25 01:57:02 UTC

I understand

2019-10-25 01:57:05 UTC

im talking about his message

2019-10-25 01:57:10 UTC

hes only focusing on trucking

2019-10-25 01:57:12 UTC

for a reason

2019-10-25 01:57:20 UTC

but its much broader than that

2019-10-25 01:57:34 UTC

why could the not fly a plan with passengers in it now?

2019-10-25 01:57:38 UTC

they fly drones everyday all day

2019-10-25 01:57:40 UTC

and land them

2019-10-25 01:57:42 UTC

90% of postals fleet, and all their contractors, Amazon, xpo, hb hunt, and Walmart fleets are ripe for it.

2019-10-25 01:57:44 UTC

My dad got in on the ground floor of a startup to combat amazon funded by louis borders, to be deployed in San Fransisco and Dallas as a test

2019-10-25 01:57:56 UTC

walmart no

2019-10-25 01:58:02 UTC

they have to deal with people like me

2019-10-25 01:58:10 UTC

i get in the way of the walmart trucks

2019-10-25 01:58:13 UTC

walmart is one of my customers

2019-10-25 01:58:22 UTC

it could work

2019-10-25 01:58:27 UTC

Walmart is super ripe. Some sensors at the distro and at the stores with a Tesla summon style module and boom.

2019-10-25 01:58:45 UTC

but the company that 3rd party ships to my warehouse from my suppler would not work with a robot, a human would have to be in the truck to make the delivery

2019-10-25 01:58:52 UTC

The majority of Walmarts are 1/4 mile from a highway ramp. Deliver at 2am and it's easy.

2019-10-25 01:58:56 UTC

its possible

2019-10-25 01:59:14 UTC

and they are developing 100% robotic warehousing solutions interfacing with amazon level product availability, also food and grocery, delivered without 1 person touching anything aside from the driver of the delivery vehicle, in 1 hour

2019-10-25 01:59:15 UTC

walmart trucks do not come at 2am

2019-10-25 01:59:23 UTC

they come at 2pm

2019-10-25 01:59:29 UTC

I'm talking about intercompany transfers and line hauls. The freight that beat trains.

2019-10-25 01:59:41 UTC

walmart receives from private venders, like myself from 4 am to 10am

2019-10-25 01:59:57 UTC

then they go on break and then their trucks come sometime between 1 and 4 pm

2019-10-25 02:00:00 UTC

@nadrud yea, now. Reschedule your truck guys, or offload the truck in the morning when they show up.

2019-10-25 02:00:13 UTC

they would have to reschedule hours

2019-10-25 02:00:41 UTC

receivers, the people who are responsible to take in all products going into those stores work during certain times... its the most difficult part of what i do

2019-10-25 02:00:47 UTC

so that is eliminating a huge amount of low skilled manual labor jobs, in favor for a relatively small amount of very high paying engineering and programming roles, to which are only available to a certain subsection of people that are mentally capable of doing this type of work

2019-10-25 02:01:08 UTC

You guys are massively underestimating the cost of insuring a human health wise, and work comp, and sick time vacation, not mention the fact that a robot doesn't have to obey hours of service.

2019-10-25 02:01:26 UTC

they cannot have the product sitting in the back room bc much of it is frozen or perishable and needs to be put on the shelf when they have the majority of their employees in the store that is why after 12 they normally arrive

2019-10-25 02:01:47 UTC

@nadrud refers can run all night on a tank of fuel, bro.

2019-10-25 02:02:01 UTC

your not considering the actual logistics of when the product arrives at its final destination

2019-10-25 02:02:07 UTC

Dock space is a larger limitation

2019-10-25 02:02:26 UTC

nadrud literally they have solutions for all of that, half of the van is robotically conveyor movable to reorganize stuff that needs to be kept cold in a refridgerated subarea of the truck

2019-10-25 02:02:28 UTC

you work at a store?

2019-10-25 02:02:32 UTC

their system is fucking insanne

2019-10-25 02:02:39 UTC

no
