Yes, some flashcards won't work on the XL for instance

and others only work for the Lite

you just need to make sure you get a regular ds flashcart that's also compatible with the 3ds

that way you know it works up until mostly the latest software

but its not a 3ds

yeah it's a normal ds cart they just ceritfy them to also work with the 3ds
