Of course. Nobody is going to lie about being a cook onboard a mostly diplomatic ship in western europe 😂

2019-11-21 16:09:01 UTC

he was calling Vanessa a whore

2019-11-21 16:09:15 UTC

So in this free speech utopia we have going on here

2019-11-21 16:09:25 UTC

What do people do about people like that?

2019-11-21 16:09:28 UTC

Just mute?

2019-11-21 16:09:41 UTC

You out them for being degenerates in society

2019-11-21 16:10:05 UTC

i was trying to debate him on free healthcare then he started that and initially i thought he was just trolling. but he went hard trying to justify being a vet

2019-11-21 16:10:58 UTC

Diabetus is expensive

2019-11-21 16:11:03 UTC

can't blame him

2019-11-21 16:11:48 UTC

I tried that too. I don’t care if healthcare would be cheaper under Universal health care. I want to be responsible for my own healthcare. And my plan has no effect on him. But his plan necessitates stealing my money to pay for his insulin

2019-11-21 16:12:09 UTC

But then he called me brainwashed instead if debating the point so I left.

2019-11-21 16:12:22 UTC

Im too old to waste time on foolishness

2019-11-21 16:12:48 UTC

Not old enough to have nothing better to do

2019-11-21 16:13:21 UTC

Lol fair enough.

2019-11-21 16:14:01 UTC

How do you feel about TRICARE, vets? I used to work on it for DoD as a civilian contractor

2019-11-21 16:14:10 UTC

Healthcare will actually promote health if its costs aren't subsidized. Rather than promote treatment.

2019-11-21 16:16:08 UTC

I don't really know shit about Tricare, but I accept government programs for soldiers as part of their benefit package. The actual inner workings are more of a budget question than principle point.

2019-11-21 16:16:13 UTC

I worked in both epidemiology and healthcare economics (as a supporting programmer) for nearly a decade. It’s a topic Im really interested in having real discussions over

2019-11-21 16:16:35 UTC

Well its bankrupting DoD. Something like 1/3-1/2 of the enitre defense budget is now tricare

2019-11-21 16:17:59 UTC

The administration of TRICARE is also a retirement farm for officers

2019-11-21 16:18:16 UTC

Entire Defense budget or discretionary?

2019-11-21 16:18:41 UTC

I imagine it isn't Discretionary tho

2019-11-21 16:18:51 UTC

I’ll have to look that up. I want to say entire but I can’t commit to that claim

2019-11-21 16:18:59 UTC

Something like 1/3-1/2 of the enitre defense budget is now tricare

2019-11-21 16:19:03 UTC

Is that true?

2019-11-21 16:19:28 UTC

Hold on let me make sure I got that right

2019-11-21 16:21:27 UTC

Even if it is true, I'm not sure what the appropriate number would be expected to be. Especially considering the internal costs of TRICARE will necessarily reflect the general costs of Healthcare, which we have caused to skyrocket.

2019-11-21 16:21:29 UTC

So all personnel costs are over 1/2 but that includes VA

2019-11-21 16:23:06 UTC

I think most service industries in the private sector hover around 50% of costs as labor costs.

2019-11-21 16:23:19 UTC

Tricare includes suplemental health care not VA or actual mil health care right?

2019-11-21 16:23:20 UTC

So that seems reasonable

2019-11-21 16:23:24 UTC

I found 52B earlier.

2019-11-21 16:23:47 UTC

Yeah TRICARE is active dity

2019-11-21 16:23:50 UTC

Duty

2019-11-21 16:23:59 UTC

VA is for the vets

2019-11-21 16:25:01 UTC

TRICARE covers reserves too. Ok looks like Im misinformed. Its $52B which is 10% of the entire defense budget. According to mercatus center

2019-11-21 16:25:23 UTC

Im not sure where I heard 1/3-1/2. Maybe it was calculated differently

2019-11-21 16:25:49 UTC

Including the VA or some other commitments to perssonel

2019-11-21 16:26:02 UTC

Well that could include all health care

2019-11-21 16:26:07 UTC

Which sounds reasonable.

2019-11-21 16:26:19 UTC

Plus I dont know if 52B include staff costs or just the base med costs.
