I know at least one doctor that says exactly that. They don't have any debt so don't feel the need to work anymore hours at less pay. At a time while the 'glorious'NHS is struggling to get doctors to cover a week's shift

If you could guarantee me that that money was actually being spent effectively and that it would actually produce a standard of living above what we would have had, sure. Problem is that the government is historically terrible at fucking everything.
