Since when do you get a response for every application

2020-01-11 09:19:22 UTC

this is why i hate data science, well one of the reasons

2020-01-11 09:19:48 UTC

Do you know C?

2020-01-11 09:19:49 UTC

I don't. I only get about a 5-8% response rate

2020-01-11 09:19:50 UTC

have you tried finance companies? like some quant stuff

2020-01-11 09:19:58 UTC

I don't know C

2020-01-11 09:19:59 UTC

Quants even harder lul

2020-01-11 09:20:11 UTC

idk bro, at least they have more of them lol

2020-01-11 09:20:19 UTC

Quants review make the CS whiteboards look like elementary school problems

2020-01-11 09:20:34 UTC

pfft doubt it. its just diff topics

2020-01-11 09:20:40 UTC

Depends on how strong his math is

2020-01-11 09:20:44 UTC

yea

2020-01-11 09:20:46 UTC

true

2020-01-11 09:21:27 UTC

There was one financial company in NY I applied to for an IT systems engineer, since I have the background in that. It was owned by Israel with an all female + lesbian executive staff. Not kidding

2020-01-11 09:21:36 UTC

lol

2020-01-11 09:21:47 UTC

how would you know they were lesbian?

2020-01-11 09:21:49 UTC

Diversity is our strength.

2020-01-11 09:21:58 UTC

My math is much stronger than average. I was a few courses from a major in it

2020-01-11 09:22:03 UTC

You can't keep fixating on the wokeness

2020-01-11 09:22:06 UTC

it's just how it is

2020-01-11 09:22:07 UTC

They told me they were lesbian

2020-01-11 09:22:17 UTC

Basically all of corporate jobs are woke

2020-01-11 09:22:47 UTC

look man, i get the feeling you need to take a look at how youre reacting to these ppl. im betting theres stuff going on thats causing them to pass you up

2020-01-11 09:22:53 UTC

maybe interview coaching?

2020-01-11 09:23:23 UTC

I could see if I can get some coaching at my old university

2020-01-11 09:23:27 UTC

are the interviews in person?

2020-01-11 09:23:34 UTC

try that

2020-01-11 09:23:45 UTC

cuz it might be something you just cant see, since youre too close

2020-01-11 09:23:47 UTC

I think your point of the Master's Degree is more on the nose

2020-01-11 09:23:51 UTC

that too

2020-01-11 09:24:11 UTC

Some. I get about 2 in person interviews a month. The rest are phone. I think that's normal for living so close to NY

2020-01-11 09:24:32 UTC

In person isn't that common TBH

2020-01-11 09:24:47 UTC

Usually you don't even get a call unless they're interested

2020-01-11 09:25:13 UTC

I was more asking because of his suspicion that you're fucking up the interview

2020-01-11 09:25:18 UTC

but if you're getting past phone and email

2020-01-11 09:25:23 UTC

you're probably not bombing them

2020-01-11 09:25:24 UTC

Yeah. Like I said. I was told several times I have a mid level resume. I'm applying to 70% entry level jobs since I don't have a master's

2020-01-11 09:25:29 UTC

its still often phone -> in person

2020-01-11 09:25:36 UTC

unless its a small operation

2020-01-11 09:26:00 UTC

It's usually a 3-4 (sometimes 5) step process

2020-01-11 09:26:12 UTC

well if its over qualified then just remove some of your experience
