i love chifi you never know if it's gonna be crap or good but you don't care because it cost like $10
i found some piston 3s a few weeks ago, the jack was rusted and i had to clean it with alcohol, but damn do they sound good for $12
first actual pair of chink IEMs
my headphone collection has pretty much just become "pre-walkman" and chifi
no more sennheiser, stopped thinking about buying beyers
chifi, heh
I'm still going on my sennheiser MM70s i bought four years ago
they've been through the washing machine twice
also >mfw audiophools pay $$$$ for dac >build a dac measurably just as good for $20
mfw i just use the onboard sound
i mean tbh unless poor design that's fine these days
audio dacs are a Solved Technology you can buy an ic for a couple bucks that does it all perfectly within the entire range of human hearing
my father's in the audio recording business and he said they're fine these days
the box you put the board in is the most expensive part of an audio dac
>mfw I didn't have sound drivers installed on openBSD and didn't notice for almost 3 months
everything else he just uses a focusrite audio interface
you can get those for like $100 now and it's studio quality
wow are there drivers for openbsd now
also >mfw audiophiles whine about their low noise opamps >open up analog mixing board >lm741 everywhere
i should try bsd after i get bored of hackintosh
next meme to fall for i guess
audio engineers in taiwan keep their analog mixing boards around and all the audio racks of hardware equipment
go for freebsd over openbsd imo
but everything's jusut done in software
with a good audio interface
freebsd sucks, don't use an operating system that not even the core devs use
the hardware's just there to impress producers
right but remember audiophools only listen to analog production vinyl records of the beatles
so their precious analog mixing board filled with lm741 is funny to me
i've got a soft spot for vinyl because that's what i remember our family using sometimes
when they complain about anything less than a $30 opamp in theuir headphone amp
the syntrend in taipei has a floor dedicated to audio
and 1/3 of it is a place where you can buy new or old vinyl records
i doubt i'll ever buy from there but it sure looks cool
http://upload.review33.com/avforum/201607/201607281121453400.jpg it's a nice place
if i had the room i'd probably get into vinyl, but mostly for archival of obscure old music nobody cares about
install OpenBSD
tape too, i really like compact cassettes
god i hate how default xfce looks
