the expensive daps are basically "hey you don't need a separate headphone amp with this and it comes in a cool milled titanium chassis!" now

it used to be because they'd do gapless flac and wav

screen does seem kind of small, though

but the cheap ones do that too now

the expensive ones just have a somewhat beefier opamp than the one built into their little soc so you can just plug your high impedance headphones straight into it

usually also have a bigger screen to look at album art but who _actually_ does that

well i had a chromecast but i hated how much it started to suck, especially with twitch, laged and shit
