well there's many reasons why people install LOS

1. To get stock Android (rather than some skinned version like MIUI for example)

2. to get a newer version of Android, and the latest security patch

stock android with privacy guard, app locking, and tasteful tweaks, as well as weekly builds

3. For the features LOS has (privacy guard etc.)

my OnePlus One for example comes with CyanogenMod 11S (4.4) but only got updates to 6.0

with LOS I can get 7.1, and with custom ROMs I can get 8.0 even
