2017-11-27 20:25:20 UTC

2017-11-27 20:25:36 UTC

2017-11-27 20:25:46 UTC

@Julian not the right model

2017-11-27 20:26:08 UTC

inventor is superior anyways

2017-11-27 20:26:09 UTC

i need one for the r1, it's the variant of the orange pi zero with a second ethernet controller and port instead of usb on the front

2017-11-27 20:27:08 UTC

it's fairly new so nobody's done the work yet, although i guess if i do it first my thingiverse page'll get way better stats

2017-11-27 20:28:13 UTC

are orange pis even worth it

2017-11-27 20:28:22 UTC

depends on what you expect out of them

2017-11-27 20:29:21 UTC

i'm using this to add a bit of fanciness to a passive network tap, management iface and tcpdump built right into the tap to shunt packets off somewhere else for moloch to look at

2017-11-27 20:29:50 UTC

i have a couple opi ones i used to host some little blogs for a while

2017-11-27 20:30:31 UTC

basically they're only good as IoT projects and little network appliances/servers

2017-11-27 20:31:20 UTC

not even _good_ as servers, but if you're just playing around or hosting something small, pihole or squid or s/t

2017-11-27 20:31:27 UTC

I was considering getting one to setup a cheap small screen that goes to a website that i cna update

2017-11-27 20:31:31 UTC

so i can have daily messages 🤔

2017-11-27 20:31:48 UTC

go for a character lcd for that

2017-11-27 20:32:19 UTC

oh boy, some 11-11 stuff arrived

2017-11-27 20:33:19 UTC

Thsoe 3DS cables are A+

2017-11-27 20:33:22 UTC

why dont the mia1's go for 170 euros again

2017-11-27 20:33:24 UTC

😭

2017-11-27 20:33:33 UTC

I got like 5 of them figuring they'd wear out quick, but they're really solid.

2017-11-27 20:33:55 UTC

what 3ds cables

2017-11-27 20:33:55 UTC

the one I posted in the thread?

2017-11-27 20:34:15 UTC

See id rather use a full sized screen

2017-11-27 20:34:22 UTC

rather then a character LCD

2017-11-27 20:34:25 UTC

because id have more stuff

2017-11-27 20:34:34 UTC

tho a cahracer screen would be smarter

2017-11-27 20:34:38 UTC

you can do, just uh

2017-11-27 20:35:01 UTC

be sure to manually and correctly configure xorg on the sd card image _before_ running the thing

2017-11-27 20:35:23 UTC

these aren't smart like the raspberry pi they have a stupid default resolution and try to force it

2017-11-27 20:36:12 UTC

also they're sliiightly more difficult to set up in general since you need to actually write and configure an armbian image instead of just slapping NOOBS on a card like you can with raspberry pi

2017-11-27 20:36:29 UTC

's really no big deal if you're familiar with *nix at all though

2017-11-27 20:36:42 UTC

🤔 Fuck i guess ill stop having to be a bum and learn linux better

2017-11-27 20:36:49 UTC

i should bring my 2nd linux server online too

2017-11-27 20:37:20 UTC

i would say for your application orange pi is fine though

2017-11-27 20:37:33 UTC

Yeah its just a matter of doing it then paying someone to 3d print a case for me
